AI would disrupt jobs, society must be prepared for it

Pelley seconded this, saying that there was an instance he asked Bard, and it suggested books about inflation that do not exist. The Alphabet CEO responded by saying Bard would have a lot of hallucinations, adding, “there is a black box with chatbots, where you don’t fully understand why or how it comes up with certain responses.”
Pichai was then asked about why, without complete understanding, they would build such a chatbot, and said humans yet do not understand how their minds work.
Meanwhile, in other company news, shares of Alphabet slid during early morning trading after The New York Times reported Samsung is looking at using Microsoft’s Bing as its devices’ default search engine, given its recent advancements with its AI technology, and to replace Google.
The report also said the Google parent learned about those discussions in March and that approximately $3 billion in annual revenue is at stake.

“The mixed-reality headset will be the star of the show, but the annual conference will be packed with other products too. That includes new Mac laptops and the biggest update to the Apple Watch’s software since the first version was introduced in 2015, I’m told,” the Apple correspondent wrote.

A recent report published on tech products news website Tom’s Guide speculated and revealed that once Apple’s Phone 15 is launched, the company will discontinue iPhone models, namely, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
“Start with the most obvious drop — we can’t remember the last time Apple kept a three-year-old iPhone around, so September will likely mean the end of the road for the iPhone 12. Its position as an older discounted model will likely be filled by the iPhone 13, which we imagine Apple would keep around but at a lower price than before,” Tom’s Guide’s Philip Michaels wrote. “Two other likely goners include the iPhone 14 Pro models.”
Apple discontinuing its iPhone 12 is likely to happen officially, as the company rarely keeps any iPhone for over three years. Its position will most probably be filled by iPhone 13.
The company usually drops its Pro models after a year of sales. The same is likely to happen with its iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, which may be discontinued after the iPhone 15 series’ launch.
Should iPhone 14 stay, the Tom’s Guide report said it might get a price cut, particularly at $100.
The report also stated that Apple discontinuing iPhone 13 mini follows the trend when they dropped iPhone 12 mini after two years of sales.
But it is not all bad news. Apple is expected to unveil four models under its iPhone 15 series, particularly the base iPhone 15 variant, iPhone 15 Plus, and two iPhone 15 Pro models – iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. An A16 Bionic chipset may power the former two, while the latest A17 processor may run the latter two.

Samsung Electronics on Sunday announced via its official news release that six models in its 2023 Neo QLED collection had been granted the “Reducing CO2” certification by the Carbon Trust.
The Carbon Trust is a global climate consultancy founded by United Kingdom’s government. It aims to reduce greenhouse gases and respond to climate change. This organization determines its carbon footprint certification for products by evaluating the amount of greenhouse gases generated throughout the entire life cycle of a particular product. It ranges from production to disposal, based on internationally recognized standards.
The “Reducing CO2” certification is awarded to products when their carbon footprint is proven to have been lessened year on year, which is seen on the Samsung products awarded with this certification.
The products granted the “Reducing CO2” certification include Samsung’s three Neo QLED 8K and three Neo QLED 4K screens.
But that is not all. Samsung further noted in the press release that it is expecting to also achieve this carbon footprint certification for over 20 of its models this year, including its latest lineup of OLED, QLED, and Crystal UHD TVs, as well as its monitors and signage products.
