Just over six months after his controversial and much-talked-about takeover of the company, Elon Musk has named a new Twitter CEO. She is Linda Yaccarino.
The billionaire said Yaccarino would oversee Twitter’s business operations. Since Musk’s takeover, the social media platform has struggled to make money.
Musk also said the new Twitter CEO will start in six weeks. However, Musk will still remain involved as Twitter’s executive chairman and chief technology officer.
“I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! @LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app,” Musk tweeted on Friday.
Yaccarino is a business executive known for her remarkable contributions to the media industry. She was the chair of advertising sales for NBCUniversal, a multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate corporation in the United States. She is also the Executive Chair of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
What better way to find out the netizens’ pulse on this new announcement than by consulting Twitter on their thoughts about this new CEO of the popular social networking platform? Basically, the netizens’ reactions are mixed. Some are liking it, while others are not.
“What have you done #ElonMusk? #LindaYaccarino is pure concentrated evil…a diehard #WEF and #KlausSchwab loyalist. She will destroy #Twitter by churning it into a WEF mouthpiece of #Censorship disguised as #FreeSpeech,” tweeted @judymorris3.
Meanwhile, @EstifWeldai aired investors’ sentiments, saying they are confused with Musk’s choice, given Yaccarino’s ties with the WEF.
“There may be trouble ahead,” meanwhile tweeted netizen @DVATW on Yaccarino being chosen as the new CEO of Twitter.
On the other hand, @dom_lucre congratulated the new Twitter CEO, saying, “Congratulations to the new CEO of Twitter. Linda Yaccarino, she isn’t an individual that can be labeled as a conservative or a liberal. She exist between both worlds. She has assisted Donald Trump and Joe Biden without bias. She has to fail for us to judge first.”
The newly appointed Twitter CEO tweeted on Saturday, saying she has been inspired by Musk’s vision to create a brighter future. Yaccarino also said she is excited to help transform the social media platform.
“Thank you @elonmusk! I’ve long been inspired by your vision to create a brighter future. I’m excited to help bring this vision to Twitter and transform this business together!” Yaccarino tweeted.
