During SEGA’s Sonic Central Livestream, many announcements were made, including a short snippet implying that the Sonic franchise might work with Minecraft. There was little information given other than a video showing a sprite of Sonic’s face reproduced in the blocky terrain that Minecraft is known for. More information about the cooperation has surfaced today, as well as the fact that the whole collaboration has been released in its entirety on the Minecraft Marketplace: a Sonic the Hedgehog DLC bundle.
Since 2013, Minecraft has started providing downloadable content for its Bedrock edition, beginning with texture packs. Minecraft began releasing “Mash-Up” packs, which are DLC packs that incorporate another series into the world of Minecraft’s aesthetic with specific essential elements featured in special environments, with a partnership with Halo in 2014.

The Sonic, the Hedgehog Mash-Up pack, includes a ton of material for fans, including the opportunity to go around a new world made up of numerous distinct classic Sonic levels at the series’ trademark fast speeds. The bundle also includes skins for every Sonic character imaginable, ranging from Shadow the Hedgehog to more esoteric possibilities like various robotic Sonics, Mighty the Armadillo, and Ray the Squirrel.
Fans will like the DLC’s many features, which include bespoke animations and behaviors for the various characters and skins, as well as several easter eggs and surprises hidden throughout the world’s levels for players to discover. The DLC even includes a unique dialogue box that says “Happy anniversary, Sonic!” and has a 30th Anniversary Sonic logo.
The DLC may be purchased on the game’s custom marketplace for 1340 Minecoins. Minecoins may be bought in groups, and the one that comes closest to the cost of the Mash-Up Pack is 1720 Minecoins, which costs around $10 depending on where you buy it.
While it may not be the anniversary game that fans had hoped for this year, a Sonic world to explore complete with all types of series classics like Chao and collecting Chaos Emeralds is nonetheless a gift that fans can enjoy for Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th anniversary. Fans of Sonic the Hedgehog and Minecraft have an entire world to explore as their chosen character. Even when the world has been fully explored, fans may continue to enjoy their regular Minecraft worlds with a Sonic skin.
