Every cosmetic outfit available in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has been leaked, revealing different looks from each character’s comic and film history. The upcoming sci-fi superhero title, developed by Eidos-Montréal, casts the player as Star-Lord and assigns them the task of leading a gang of outlaws from outer space. The game will include a variety of skins for each character, with many outfits inspired by comic book outfits or based on their live-action appearances in recent MCU films.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, like other Marvel games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Avengers, will include a variety of outfits for each hero. Many of these appearances will be based on specific designs plucked from the pages of Marvel Comics history, and the game’s recreation of these outfits appears to be impressively accurate.
Gamora, for example, will be able to wear costumes inspired by various comic storylines, including 2015’s Black Vortex Alpha, 2015’s Infinity Gauntlet, and 2016’s Gamora solo series. The game will, however, include the character’s highly popular appearances from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The design of Drax’s MCU skin has already been revealed, and it closely resembles Dave Bautista’s live-action portrayal of the alien warrior.
YouTuber Somewhat Awesome Games has revealed every cosmetic skin featured in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in an apparent leak. All five members of the Marvel misfit team have different skins to choose from, though the playable character Star-Lord has the most.
Many of the outfits are based on specific comic storylines, such as Groot’s look from the 2007 Annihilation: Conquest event or Drax’s costume from The Thanos Imperative in 2010. Each character also has a single MCU-inspired skin, as well as several original designs created specifically for the game by Eidos-Montréal. Each outfit also includes an in-universe description as well as the source of inspiration, which is a small but significant detail.
Along with various comic-inspired outfits, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will feature a slew of characters plucked from the pages of Marvel history. The game will be centered on the five Guardians, but other supporting characters will be prominently featured as well.
Mantis, a well-known member of the Guardians in comics and the MCU, will appear in the game as a non-player character. Cosmo, the telepathic dog, and Worldmind, the advanced artificial intelligence, will also appear as supporting characters. Adam Warlock, a supremely powerful being from the Marvel universe, appears in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. However, it is unclear whether he will be an ally or foe to the Guardians.
Guardians of the Galaxy appears to pay homage to each Guardian’s comic book and live-action history. Each outfit is one-of-a-kind, and it has been faithfully translated from the comic page to the gaming world. Individual costumes will allow each hero to stand out, while team-wide sets will allow players to create a uniform look for their entire squad. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy can perfectly capture the essence of the outer space squad by embracing the team’s history and personality.
