With Odyssey OLED G8, Samsung’s first-ever OLED gaming monitor, the South Korean multinational electronics corporation is also making history in this arena like its competitors.
The Odyssey OLED G8 from Samsung is now available for purchase in countries like Australia and India.
Australia
According to today’s post on Samsung Newsroom Australia, Samsung Electronics Australia has announced the launch of Odyssey OLED G8 in the Pacific nation in March 2023 at around $1,379. However, this first-ever OLED gaming monitor from Samsung is already available for pre-order in Australia between today to March 5th. Not only that, but customers who pre-order this gaming monitor during this period will get a Samsung SSD 990 PRO 2TB worth $268 as a bonus present while stocks last.
“The Odyssey OLED G8 is an exciting addition to our gaming monitor lineup, delivering such vivid colour and our fastest response time yet for high-speed gameplay,” stated Phil Gaut, Senior Director of Display and Brand Memory for Samsung Australia, “Combined with Smart TV functionality that we’ve started to bring across into our Odyssey range, it’s a fantastic, all-in-one monitor for Australians looking to game, work and watch from one screen. Moreover its razor sharp design, super thin body and silver metal finish have taken gaming monitors into a whole new design space that you’d be proud to show off from any room in your home.”
India
Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G8 has also reportedly launched in India, along with two other high-end gaming monitors, the Odyssey G7 and the Odyssey G7 Neo. All three monitors are available for purchase via the official Samsung India website. Furthermore, they will also be available through Amazon and other leading retailers in the South Asian nation.
The Odyssey OLED G8 is at around $2,116. However, it is currently listed with a price tag of about $1,601.
Meanwhile, the Odyssey G7 is priced at around $907 and comes in just black. The Odyssey G7 Neo, which is a mini-LED version of the former, on the other hand, comes in two sizes: 32 inches and 43 inches. The 32-inch is around $1,209, while the 43-inch version is around $1,572.
Samsung’s first OLED gaming monitor
Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G8 features a 34-inch curved display with a 1800R curvature. It has an impressive 175Hz refresh rate with a super low response time of 0.1ms.
Moreover, the monitor uses Samsung’s Quantum Dot display technology to cover 99.3 percent of the DCI color gamut. Plus, its 3,400 x 1,440-pixel resolution is aided by AMD FreeSync Premium for exceptional gaming performance.
It is way better than your ordinary gaming monitor. It also features a height-adjustable stand and rear core lighting that you can sync with your in-game environment. The monitor also features integrated 5W stereo speakers, USB-C, Micro HDMI, and Mini DP ports.
Of course, if you ask if it can even double as your TV, it definitely can. This is because Samsung’s Tizen-powered Smart TV platform comes pre-loaded, providing you access to streaming applications such as Netflix, Hulu, and Samsung TV Plus. The package includes a remote control.
Lastly, there is Samsung’s Game Hub, enabling you to stream games easily from services like Xbox Game Pass and NVIDIA GeForce Now.
