Discord is a great app to connect with your friends in the gaming community. It allows you to gather your friends together in a group text or voice chat, as well as post GIFs, share memes, share screenshots, or simply talk about your day. Now, you can even run Discord while playing games, especially with this new update on the app.
Last March 8th, Discord finally received a voice chat integration with PlayStation 5. Yes, you read that right. With this update, Discord now lets you talk with your friends on voice calls while you are in-game. Also, PS5 users now have the opportunity to join voice channels on the app through their system.
But to make all these possible, you need to follow the proper steps. Here’s the guide.
Linking Discord To PlayStation 5
For you to use Discord on your PS5 console, you will first need to link your Discord and PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts from your PS5. Take note, though, that you can only do this if you have updated your PS5 to version 7.00.
If you’ve done that, here are the steps to follow:
- Proceed to your PS5’s settings
- Go to Users and Accounts, then Linked Services.
- Afterward, click on the Discord ability to begin the linking process.
- Finally, link your Discord and PlayStation accounts.
Note: If you have already linked your Discord and PSN accounts before, you will need to do this again on your PS5 to grant new permissions required for the Discord voice chat.
Using Discord On PlayStation 5
After you have done the steps discussed above, you can already use your Discord app on your mobile or PC to get the Discord voice chat started, then transfer it to your PS5. However, also note that this Discord integration is not available on PS4.
To use Discord on PS5, here are the steps:
- Launch the Discord app on your PC or smartphone.
- Then, join your desired voice channel.
- Then, slide up the voice controls.
- Afterward, choose “Transfer to PlayStation.”
- Finally, click on your PS5 to get connected.
By this time, you may already add friends by launching Discord, and selecting the green button on the top of your screen. Simply select a Discord friend’s username, then you can start sending messages or making calls with them.
Take note that for everything to run smoothly, your Discord app must be updated to its latest version.
There You Go
That pretty much covers everything you must know about using Discord on your PlayStation 5. This voice chat integration of Discord with PS5 is giving you the power to connect more with your friends in the gaming community, and stay updated with their whereabouts, activities and everything in the gaming world.
