Abby, one of the most talked about characters in “The Last of Us” Season 2 (and in the game, as well) and the most difficult to cast, has reportedly been cast. PVP Live has got the freshest details, plus more rumors about the casting for the HBO favorite.

Confirmed Actors So Far, According To Reports

While some roles for the second season of “The Last of Us” have yet to be confirmed, various news reports are saying these are the actors confirmed for the upcoming season:

  • Pedro Pascal to portray Joel
  • Gabriel Luna to portray Tommy
  • Rutina Wesley to portray Maria

Abby Has Reportedly Been Cast! Plus, More Casting Rumors

Abby is one of the most interesting characters in the series and, thus, is also one of the most challenging to cast.

Abigail “Aby” Anderson is the playable dual protagonist in “The Last of Us Part II.” She is a member of the Fireflies – a revolutionary militia group featured as an antagonistic faction in the games – broken by tragedy when Joel killed her dad, Jerry.

Thus, Abby has since made it her mission to avenge her father’s demise. However, it is only after her successful vengeance that she embarks on a journey with companion Lev to rediscover her life’s purpose.

“After the first Last of Us game fit neatly into the first season of the show, the second season will begin to tackle the much larger, much more ambitious, and much more controversial storyline of The Last of Us Part II. The Last of Us Part II revolves around Ellie’s quest for revenge following Joel’s murder, and the game gives just as much of a spotlight to Joel’s killer, Abby, forcing the player to empathize with her side of the story,” Ben Sherlock of popular gaming news and review website Game Rant wrote.

Such a very interesting character, isn’t it? Now, reports are saying she has been cast – finally.

“The Last of Us” showrunner, Craig Mazin reportedly confirmed in an interview with Los Angeles Times that Abby has been cast.

However, Mazin did not specify who the actress is yet, but fans are theorizing it is Shannon Berry. Berry is known for “The Wilds” and “Hunters,” among other shows.

The rumored actress to play Berry is also following creator Neil Druckmann on Instagram, as well as series stars Pascal and Ramsey, which may add confirmation to the rumor.

Also, Berry posted in a now-deleted tweet, “Ok I’ve seen too many people now say I look like Abby from ‘The Last of Us’ and wow they’re kind of right.”

But Release Can Be Pushed Further?

“The Last of Us” Season 2 is reportedly due to arrive in 2025, but this may be pushed further because of the ongoing writers and actors strike in Hollywood.

“We were looking at ‘The Last Of Us’ for some time in 2025… but there’s some question about the timing of the strike,” Francesca Orsi, HBO’s head of drama, told entertainment breaking news website Deadline. “While everything at this moment is pencils down, I’m hopeful that we can come to terms sooner than later.
