But we’re not yet entirely done with 2023. As we move closer to this year’s holiday season, more MMORPGs are expected to be launched. Excited? Read on to find out the best MMORPGs you should look forward to in the rest of 2023, 2024, and beyond. Yes, we got the details for 2024 already.

Rest Of 2023

‘The Day Before’

Release Date: November 10th, 2023

Developed by Fntastic and published by Mytona, “The Day Before” is an upcoming multiplayer open world survival horror game set in the post-apocalyptic United States, where zombies have overrun the world.

Take Tom Clancy’s “The Division,” then add some “DayZ,” and sprinkle some “The Last of Us” for good measure, and you get “The Day Before.” Quite exciting, right?

‘Wayfinder’

Release Date: Late 2023 (Early access released on August 17th)

Also an MMORPG to look forward to in the remaining days of 2023 is “Wayfinder.” This is an upcoming MMORPG from the development of Airship Syndicate, the studio behind blockbuster games like “Darksiders Genesis” and “Battle Chasers: Nighwar.”

Set in an enormous and fantastical world that will remind you of that of “WildStar,” the game allows players to explore different environments, unearth hidden treasures, and participate in battles with various creatures.

‘Palia’

Release Date: Holiday 2023

With the upcoming Christmas season already waving, you can ask your friends and relatives to gift you a game like “Palia.”

“Palia” is an open world and a community-based MMO that transpires into a tranquil and picturesque world. In this game, players take a human form and immerse themselves in a coveted life of farming, forming relationships, and perfecting their living quarters. It’s quite a breath of fresh air from the other games on this list.

‘Throne And Liberty’

Release Date: Q4 of 2023 in South Korea, 2024 in the West

Releasing during the fourth quarter of 2023 in South Korea and 2024 in the West, “Throne and Liberty” is an upcoming MMORPG developed and to be published in South Korea by NCSoft, and to be published in the Americas, Europe, and Japan by Amazon Games.

Initially, it was supposed to be part of the “Lineage” series and a sequel to the first “Lineage” game, but the developers felt they must offer more, so the game was repurposed and restructured better into development. It has been said that it will now use Unreal Engine 4. Quite stunning.

2024 And Beyond

‘Hytale’

Release Date: Sounds like 2024

“Hytale” is a sandbox game by Hypixel Studios. With Riot Games, the team behind games like “League of Legends” and “Valorant,” funding it, “Hytale’s” production started in 2014 by developers from the Minecraft multiplayer server, Hypixel.

This game features a procedurally generated fantasy world consisting of blocks of various shapes laid out in a three-dimensional grid, featuring different creatures, biomes, and dungeons.

“Hytale” players can join minigames similar to those found on the Hypixel server. They can also build and share modes, as well as create custom content using a series of browser-based and in-game tools.

‘Dune: Awakening’

Release Date: No official release date yet, but rumors say early access will be released in 2024

“Dune” is not just an MMORPG but actually a huge franchise in itself. After the movie adaptation was shown, the franchise got a lot of attention and rave reviews. The book series is also already being enjoyed by countless enthusiasts. Beyond the many video game adaptations that the franchise has over the years, it is rather exciting to see it as an MMORPG.

The lore of “Dune” is very deep and profound, so players must look forward to all those factions and politics being brought to life in an MMORPG setting centered on the Arrakis world. Rumors also say the game will not follow the main storyline but instead will diverge into a “what if” timeline, which should be fun.

‘Soulframe’

Release Date: Late 2024

From the development of Digital Extremes, “Soulframe,” meanwhile, is a fantasy MMO and is the studio’s first game since “Warfame.” “Warframe” has been extremely popular among gamers, and they love that it gets consistent yearly updates. But like other games, “Warframe” isn’t perfect, and it has brought forward players who have complained about how its endgame experience isn’t something they expected. Well, the developers are looking forward to “Soulframe” changing this.

‘Ashes Of Creation’

Release Date: None yet

“Ashes of Creation” does not have a launch date yet, but there are rumors about how the game will run. Developers reportedly teased that this game will feature evolving worlds that dynamically and dramatically change, giving players a fresher experience unlike other games.

Instead of a completely linear setup, this game seeks to provide players with more sense of control over the game worlds. We can’t wait to see how these will turn out.

Conclusion

MMORPGs are online role-playing video games where a massive number of people participate simultaneously. Well, honestly, there hasn’t been a year when the world of MMORPGs did not perform at its peak. 2023, 2024, and even beyond, the momentum is still on and further building, and as you can see, there are a lot of MMORPGs to look forward to this year and the upcoming months.
