Good news for gamers – 2022 is shaping up to be a stellar year for new video games, with a host of exciting new titles ready to hit the shops, after the delay-hit year that was 2021. That’s not to say that this year hasn’t seen some great releases, with major franchises such as Call of Duty dropping new games just in time for Christmas.
Alongside fan favorites, there are brand-new games on the way that look to become modern-day classics across all formats – including mobile, as the platform goes from strength to strength. With cutting-edge graphics, immersive gameplay, epic action, and storylines aplenty, let’s take a look at some of the most exciting forthcoming games in the coming months for PCs, consoles, and mobile devices.
Call of Duty: Vanguard
This one is imminently upcoming, set to be released on 6th November. Call of Duty: Vanguard looks like one of the best looking next-gen titles out there, packed with the period detail, breathtaking graphics, and intense action, fans of the franchise have come to expect. It takes us back to the horrors of WW2 from the perspectives of each major Allied nation – Great Britain, the United States, and the Soviet Union – exploring some of the untold stories of the conflict. The main protagonists are based on real-life WW2 soldiers for an authentic and at times chilling, experience.
Jurassic World Evolution 2
Another one slated for release next week is the mother of all dinosaur park simulation games. Jurassic World Evolution 2 gets bigger and more immersive, with a new campaign mode, more dino-breeds, more biome options, and a whole host of customizable features. There is also a brand-new Chaos mode which allows you to play through scenarios based on storylines from the film franchise to see what would happen in different, potentially more disastrous, circumstances.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Fans of Pokémon are in for a treat in 2022, with the first-ever open-world Pokémon game appearing on the Nintendo Switch, scheduled for release at the end of January. Set in a distant past, long before anything in the Pokémon timeline, it’s a chance to explore Sinnoh and attempt to create the area’s first Pokedex. Throw Pokeballs at Pokémon to catch them and open up a battle. The game has stirred considerable excitement amongst the enormous Pokémon fanbase, so hopefully, it will live up to expectations.
New Online Casinos
Online casino games have taken the world by storm ever since their appearance, and are perfectly suited to the mobile platform that they are most regularly played on. From blackjack to poker to slot machines, these games now feature cutting-edge graphics, varied gameplay, and take in themes from across popular culture. Slots in particular are constantly developing, and 2022 will bring thousands of new options for keen players. There are a dizzying array of both casinos and games to choose from with the new casinos appearing constantly, even on a daily basis, so it’s lucky that there is some expert advice online from writers such as Geraldine Nguyen from playcasinos.ca. As Nguyen states: “New online casinos open all the time, and some of them are really good. But, some of them just plain suck.” As their goal is to collect high-quality online venues constantly appearing on the market, this is one of the best sites for information on great and reliable places to play. Her hot tip for a great slot machine is Dead or Alive II – check it out!
Dying Light 2
It’s impossible in this day and age to have a list of games without mentioning one full of zombies. And Dying Light 2, slated for a February release, should fulfill your yearly quota of undead action if the previews are anything to go by. Picking up where the (fantastic) first game left off, developers Techland promise much more in the way of features, graphics, and all the other parameters you’d expect. From what we can see the narrative flows, the combat is exquisitely handled and the world is totally reactive – the whole package promises a great time – in an apocalyptic, end of the world kinda way.
Gran Turismo 7
As with zombies, a list without a racing game just won’t fly. And the latest edition of Gran Turismo, which drops in early March, is the one. The GT series has been forever pushing the boundaries of jaw-dropping graphics and responsive, downright exciting gameplay, and GT 7 brushes up on both of those aspects – just take a look at the cars themselves. And as expected, the customizable options have expanded once again, meaning you can geek out over your car before you fire it up.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns
A supernatural science fiction strategy game, Marvel’s Midnight Suns make use of 12 of the Marvel Universe’s most iconic characters who battle with Lillith, the Mother of Demons. You play The Hunter – who happens to be the first-ever customizable Marvel superhero – in trying to defeat her. The game will be released by Firaxis, the developer behind the XCOM series, in March.
So there is plenty to look forward to for gaming enthusiasts and casuals alike. Whatever style of game or platform you favor, 2022 is looking up!
