If you are active on Facebook, raise your hands if you are among those who are growing curious and wondering about the people who view your Facebook profile. Right? It would be more fun and interesting to know people interested in getting to know you on social media or viewing your profile. But Facebook is a little bit not open about its users knowing who are checking out your posts, photos, and other information.
While the popular social media platform makes it easy for you to change your privacy settings, they do not have a feature to see who looks at your posts in the way the other social media apps like Snapchat do.
According to the website Pathofex, Facebook has always forbidden users to know who has viewed their profile since the very beginning. Pathofex stated that Facebook said, “Facebook doesn’t let people track who views their profile. Third-party apps also can’t provide this functionality. If you come across an app that claims to offer this ability, please report the app.”
This is also the statement of Facebook on its official help page.
While many apps and services out there claim to be able to let you know who view your Facebook profile, you are unsure about their safety, so we will teach you free methods that can show you who has viewed your Facebook profile.
How To See Who View Your Facebook Profile
These steps are only applicable to iOS devices for now, but it is expected that they will apply to Android soon.
Here are the steps.
- From your iPhone, launch the Facebook app and log in to your account.
- Then, open the main drop-down menu.
- Go to “Privacy Shortcuts.”
- Lastly, click on “Who viewed my profile.”
We tried doing these on Facebook on Google Chrome, but it does not seem very easy to apply these steps. Facebook on Google Chrome is somewhat different.
How To See Who View Your Facebook Profile On Desktop
Unlike the previous section, these steps apply to both PC and Mac devices. Here are the steps to see who has viewed your Facebook profile on your desktop.
- Launch Google Chrome or any browser from your desktop. Then, visit Facebook.
- Log in to your Facebook account.
- Then, visit your profile page by clicking on your name displayed in the upper corner.
- Right-click from your mouse. A pop-up menu will appear.
- Click on “View Page Source.” Or, press Ctrl + U.
The image you see above is the page that will show having HTML text and code. Here are the next steps.
- This time, press Ctrl + F if you are on your PC. Press Command (⌘) + F if you are using Mac.
- Then, copy the two codes provided below this line. Paste them into the search bar.
“Initialchatfriendslist” or “BUDDY_ID”.
After you paste either one or both of those codes in the search bar, you will see countless numbers. Look closely now. There are a lot of profile IDs of people who viewed your Facebook profile. At every number, “-2” would be written. You do not have to consider -2 in the profile IDs. Here are what to do next.
- Copy a 15-digit number and paste it to www.facebook.com/[Profile ID here). It shall look like this example: www.facebook.com/123456789012345.
Take note that you should be logged into your account while doing this.
- Press the Enter button, and you will see the name of the person who has that ID you copied in the abovementioned step.
This is the name of the person who regularly views your Facebook profile. You can perform the same process by copying different profile IDs and pasting them to the Facebook link.
Check Who Viewed Your Facebook Profile Using A Google Chrome Extension
There are also Google Chrome extensions you can use to see who view your Facebook profile. Among such extensions include the following:
- The Social Profile
- Facebook Profile
- Super Viewer for Facebook
Post Tracking Links To See Who Viewed Your Facebook Profile
Right here, early on, we would like to tell you these methods do not work for all. But you can use the available resources around to really find out who has viewed your Facebook profile.
All you have to do is visit a website like Grabify. These websites are capable of making a disguised link. This means you will post something clickbait on your Facebook. They will click on this link, and voila, you have their name. You can disguise the link and add article titles or captions.
Then, copy the URLs of these articles, paste them on Grabify, and follow the on-screen instructions. There you go.
