The story of “Naruto” is so well woven that even first-time viewers of this anime will notice the spotlight over other characters – not just Naruto Uzumaki and his friends – such as the Tailed Beasts. Who are these Beasts, and which among them are the strongest?
Who Are The Tailed Beasts In ‘Naruto’?
Basically speaking, the Tailed Beasts are a group of nine giant beings made and powered by chakra. In real life, chakra is a meditation term that refers to the focal point of the life force. In “Naruto,” chakra is the source of power.
Originally, these Beasts were part of an even more giant creature, the Ten-Tails, until the legendary Sage of Six Paths separated them into nine sentient creatures.
The Strongest Tailed Beasts
The Tailed Beasts are not equal in terms of strengths. Here is the ranking of the strongest to the not-so-strong Tailed Beasts:
Ten-Tailed Beast
The Ten-Tailed Beast is the strongest of the bunch. This creature is so giant that his hands alone are even bigger than the sizes of the other beasts. He can dent the unbreakable four-crimson ray formation barrier, a deity who can devour the oceans, move mountains, and split the earth. The Ten-Tailed Beast also has the power to control natural energy, so you cannot just dictate what it has to do.
Kurama
The second is Kurama, the nine-tailed beast whose jinchuriki was Naruto himself. Before him, his mom, Kushina, carried this duty. Among the nine-tailed beasts, Kurama is the strongest. He can breathe out fire and release the wind, as well as defeat the rest of the nine-tailed beasts with a single fingertip movement, creating a barrage of bombs. Plus, with this Baryon Mode, he can generate a radical energy form that can topple other forces.
Gyuki
What was inside the minds of the creators of “Naruto” when they thought of merging the looks of a bull and octopus with Gyuki? Yes. This eight-tailed beast possesses the highest forms of strength and tenacity since he is not just strong enough to battle the village’s leader but also withstand a tailed beast bomb from the Tailed Beasts, Bijuu. Gyuki can also agitate chakras and expel genjutsus, although he cannot lay his hands on the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
Son Gokū
Wait, what? You are reading that right, and there isn’t a typo on the PVP Live team’s end. There’s really a Son Gokū in “Naruto.”
The creators of this anime may or may not be trying to be funny, but Son Gokū is a monkey here, just like the monkeys in the 2024 movie adaptation of “Wicked.” This four-tailed beast has one of the most potent Kekkei Genkai, that is, lava release. He is also adept in Taijutsu. Living in Roshi at the Hidden Stone Village, Son Gokū hates human beings.
Kokuo
Those beasts you read about above are not the most beautiful, but here’s a beast that resembles a unicorn, Kokuo. This five-tailed beast is also oh-so-powerful that it has managed to free itself from the cruel control of the young ninja Obito Uchiha. Incredibly strong, it can ram Gyuki and send it flying all over the field, as well as combine the releases of water and fire. Be sure to check this out as you watch “Naruto.”
Chomei
From a unicorn-inspired beast to something that looks even grander, although it is an insect. Chomei, a seven-tailed beast, is an insect that resembles an armored Kabutomushi or the Japanese rhinoceros beetle. Six of her tails take the form of insect wings with the seventh growing simply as a tail.
It lives in a village near a waterfall and can use its wings to blind others. It also releases a mist and creates cocoons that slow chakra absorption.
Saiken
Meanwhile, this six-tailed beast is monstrous in its own right, as it is a slug. He lives in Utakata from Hidden Mist and can use water release and corrosive substances. It can likewise share its chakra with other tailed beasts. It also exhibits endurance like that of an Olympic athlete, coming to you solid and unscathed.
Isobu
Now, Isobu, a three-tailed beast that resembles a turtle, or maybe Blastoise of “Pokémon,” is the most docile of all the Beasts on this list. He has quite a story to tell.
Forcefully, he was sealed in Rin Nohara, a chūnin of Konohagakure, from the Hidden Leaf Village, only to be used against Konoha. Sad, but true. To expound more, Nohara ran in front of the Chidori of Kakashi Hatake, killing herself yet saving Konoha in the end. PVP Live isn’t sure if the word “yet’ is right there.
Isobu’s jinchuriki was Yagura Karatachi, the fourth Mizukage. It holds exceptional swimming skills and can release a hallucinogenic mist.
Shukaku
Next up is Shukaku, who looks weird yet cool because it resembles a wolf who has eaten too much during the holidays. He lives in Gaara, and interestingly, this beast is credited with his defense.
Shukaku is best known for its advanced sealing techniques that outrank those of other Tailed Beasts. However, he hates humans, too, and does not mind murdering them, no matter whether they are innocent or not.
Matatabi
The last of the bunch, yet the weakest, is Matatabi. It is also interesting because it resembles a tiger, and why is it that the insects are “stronger” than tigers? It is speedy, capable of fire release, and can fuse with other beasts.
You can stream this phenomenal anime right now on Netflix, iQIYI, Crunchyroll, and other popular platforms. It’s kind of interesting why “Naruto” hasn’t been made into a live-action yet like “One Piece,” when today’s advanced technology can make its live-action version good. By the way, notice that there are terminologies local to this anime, so it is essential to keep “Naruto” encyclopedias by your side. Check out more stories about “Naruto” by clicking here.
