“Elden Ring” is undoubtedly among the most exciting games to play today. And, even adding to the excitement of players of this game is the announcement of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Though it is speculated that its release date will be late next year, several rumors are already coming out on how the game will change with this DLC.

To those who are not yet aware of this DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree is an upcoming expansion for “Elden Ring.” This was previously announced via the official account of “Elden Ring” on Twitter. So it is safe to say that this expansion is already official, except that there are not many details about the content of this DLC, whether it is a fully-fledged expansion, and what gamers can expect regarding its scope and price.

What is available right now so far are speculations and rumors about this expansion from the gaming community. For instance, they are saying that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will introduce new features and capabilities, such as the ability to explore any new areas of the game’s map and find all new weapons and armor.

Furthermore, gamers are also saying that there is one addition that the DLC can offer that can significantly impact the entire game: adding trophies.

Add More Trophies, Gamers Say

In the “Elden Ring” game, players can unlock various trophies and achievements throughout the gameplay. On PlayStation and Steam, there are currently 42 trophies to collect (one Platinum, three Gold, 14 Silver, and 24 Bronze trophies). Meanwhile, for Xbox, the achievements are worth a total of 1,000.

However, for these gamers anticipating the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, these numbers are still small, and the game developers should add more trophies.

They are saying that if the game really wants to go above and beyond with this upcoming expansion, it should add trophies based on the entire content FromSoftware has added to the game since it launched. They added how it would be great to see Shadow of the Erdtree add various trophies based on the post-launch updates, too, so even old fans can return to the game and catch up.

But there’s a caveat.

Fans Should Not Hope For Trophies, The Developer Reportedly Says

A report published on a website named TrueTrophies said that while game developers FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have revealed that PlayStation 5 and 4 will be getting a DLC, the developer has not been keen on DLC trophies. Dun dun duuun!

TrueTrophies also added that there won’t be any trophies from the upcoming Shadow or the Erdtree DLC.

The website also referred to several instances in the past when other games by FromSoftware did not have DLC trophies, such as for “Artorias of the Abyss,” “Dark Souls II,” The Lost Crowns DLC, and “Dark Souls III” for Ashes of Ariendel and The Ringed City. However, they noted an exception in the form of The Old Hunters DLC, which added some Bloodborne trophies.
