The Devils in “Chainsaw Man” are who their name implies. They’re bad, they’re fierce, and they won’t let anybody get in their way. But they’re more than those.
In the story, Devils pertain to a race of supernatural beings prolific across the World, the name for Earth, where humans reside. These Devils feed upon humanity’s deepest fears.
Some are powerful, while others are weaker. In this PVP Live guide, you will know who the baddest Devils are in “Chainsaw Man,” starting with the Chainsaw Devil.
1. Chainsaw Devil (Pochita)
It may be cute on the outside, but its Devil form is something to be feared. First, the Chainsaw Devil, Pochita itself, plays a significant role in revitalizing another devil. If the hero, the Chainsaw Man, wins, it’s the end for the Devil, of course. If the Devil perishes in World, it is born again in Hell. If that Devil dies while in Hell, it gets reincarnated into World again. It’s a never-ending cycle for a Devil until they meet Pochita.
Pochita is the game-changer. If it manages to defeat and consume a Devil, not only will that Devil end, but also its fear.
2. Darkness Devil
Categorized as a Primal Devil, embodying the most profound fears of humanity, this ancient entity, which, in the story, was conceived just shortly after the dawn of mankind, can gain total control over darkness. Imagine astronauts getting decapitated because of what this Devil can do.
It faces and defeats its targets while it is invisible. Yes, while it’s invisible. With these abilities, it can claim the lives of whoever it lays its hands upon. It strikes fear into the hearts of Devil Hunters, giving viewers a chill down their spine.
3. Gun Devil
Now here’s a Devil that’s relatively more modern. Speed is its ultimate weapon. Specifically, it can annihilate cities and murder more than a million people in just five minutes. That’s precise. In just five minutes.
The powerful Control Devil must form a team of six Devils to defeat only 20 percent of the Gun Devil. Yes, just 20 percent. Powerful, right? The world’s greatest governments hold parts of its body, so it is really unbeatable.
4. Control Devil
Coming right up is the Control Devil, a woman named Makima. Simply, she’s manipulative. She can exploit the vulnerabilities not only of humans but also Devils to assert his dominance. She excels in mind control, as well as her subtle hand gestures, which will remind you of the characters in the “Now You See Me” movie series. When you come across her, do it with caution.
She can infiltrate the minds of others, making them obey her commands. She’s a dominant force to be reckoned with.
5. War Devil
Yoru, the War Devil, has another affiliation, the Four Horsemen. Though weaker than the Control Devil, partly because of its encounter with Pochita, weakening Yoru and the fear of war. But, prior to her defeat, she could gain complete control over objects and make them into powerful weapons. Thus, she can wage wars in the human world. She can also create weapons out of people’s body parts. Weird but true.
For example, she created the School Uniform Sword, which she used to cut the Justice Devil in pieces with just one swing. The fact that her weapon’s strength boosts according to the sentimental value of the original object.
6. Hell Devil
Then, there’s the Hell Devil. It is vital because it can drag individuals down to the depths of its home, hell. Thus, it takes the form of an enormous hand with six figures that eerily emerge from a celestial door that won’t lead to heaven but the gates of Inferno.
Interestingly, like the Gun Devil has Contracts with governments, the Hell Devil has ties with Santa Claus. Funny, but true. So, it can give some pretty exchanges for those who dare to bargain with it.
The Hell Devil is also immortal and can reincarnate within the abyss of hell.
7. Angel Devil
In religious scriptures, the devil is actually a fallen angel. Thus, you have the idea of an Angel Devil in “Chainsaw Man.” He has the power to absorb the lifespans of humans simply by touching them. They don’t turn into gold like how Midas’ touch does, but they perish. After absorbing them, this Devil then transforms them into weapons.
What’s worse, as the sacrificed human’s lifespan increases, the weapon’s power also increases.
8. Curse Devil
The Curse Devil uses a classic Japanese curse ritual, the Ushi-no-Toki-Mairi, in which their enemies are pierced with a nail to acquire the curse. Upon summoning, this Devil gains control of its target, assuming a crucified pose. It then inflicts brutal execution by gnawing into their shoulder and shattering their arms. Yikes!
This merciless killing approach is reflected in how the Curse Devil looks, a skeleton with two heads adorned with a sizable ribcage. Intricacy and brutality rolled into one.
9. Cosmos Devil
Next is the Cosmos Devil, the devil of the universe. This omniscient being that mimics God has all the wisdom of the cosmos inside her head. But she’s ranked low on this list because of how she is unable to access the massive information inside her head. Like an old computer, she can only say the word “Halloween.” (What’s up with the writers of “Chainsaw Man,” right?)
But she can make her enemies feel what she feels, and the weight of her thoughts holds omniscience. The enemies’ minds get overwhelmed, and they utter “Halloween” before they die.
Those are nine of the fiercest Devils in “Chainsaw Man.” Yes, you found some odd elements in their profiles, such as how a Devil is only capable of saying “Halloween” and no other word (out of all words, right?) and a Devil with a deal with Santa Claus. But that’s what makes “Chainsaw Man” striking. Catch these Devils on the show, which you can stream on platforms such as Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu.
