iPhone X beside MacBook

There are so much things you can do on Facebook. Not only can you share things about your life with your Facebook friends, but you can also reminisce about old posts. This is via the Facebook activity log. In this article, we will tackle everything you need to know about the Facebook activity log.

The Facebook Activity Log: Overview

The Facebook activity log is where you can manage and review your Facebook activity. Using this feature, you can scroll through your content, filter through your content by category, or check specific things like posts, posts you are tagged in, photos and videos, friend requests, and events.

Everything is private here. Only you can see your activity log, but the posts and other content in your activity log may appear in different places on Facebook, like on your Timeline, in Search, or your friends’ News Feeds.

What’s Included In Activity Log?

You can find several categories of your Facebook activities in the activity log, organized according to the date you added the posts to Facebook – starting with the most recent activity. Keep in mind that this means that when you add a life event to your profile, it will show up in your activity log on the day you added the post, not the day of the event itself. No-brainer, isn’t it?

Categories Of Your Information In Activity Log Include:

  • Your Posts to review things like text, videos, photos, and status updates you have shared on Facebook
  • Activity You’re Tagged In to review things like posts, photos, and comments you have been tagged in
  • Interactions to check things such as likes, comments, and reactions
  • Groups and Events to review things like your group activity and events you have created
  • Profile information to check things like your phone number and email address
  • Connections to review things like friends, Page likes, and relationships
  • Logged Actions and Other Activity to review things like your devices, logins, and videos you have watched.

Here is a note, though: You may also access most of the content you post on Facebook by logging into your account. Also, keep in mind the categories of data Facebook receives, collects, and saves may change over time. You can refer to Facebook’s Privacy Policy.

You Can Use The Facebook Activity Log To:

  • Find a specific activity you are looking for
  • Remove a search from your search history
  • Remote or hide posts on Facebook
  • View things you have hidden on your Timeline

How Do I Find And Use My Facebook Activity Log?

You have learned tidbits about the Facebook activity log earlier. This time, you will get to know the details.

Your activity lets you review and manage what you share on the world’s biggest social networking platform.

Click your profile picture on Facebook’s top right to view your activity log. Then, select Settings & Privacy, then tap on Activity Log. From here, you can filter by Date or review Activity Types such as those you have learned about a while ago, from your Posts to Logged Actions and Other Activity.

How Do I Use My Activity Log To Look For Specific Things On Facebook?

Your activity log shows your Facebook activity in chronological order. Your activity constitutes things like the content you have added to Facebook – such as posts you created and things you have liked – actions you have taken on Facebook – like adding or removing friends – and other information about you on Facebook. You can use the filters to narrow your search if you want to find something more specific.

To use the activity log to look for something specific:

  1. Click on your profile picture in the top right of Facebook.
  2. Select Settings & Privacy, then tap Activity Log.

From here, you can review content by:

First, the Date.

  1. Click Date.
  2. Click the dropdown menu under Year and select the year you want to review. You can then filter by month.
  3. Click Save Changes.

The second is the Activity Type.

  1. Click the category under Activity Type you would like to review. These include everything you have learned about previously, from your Posts to your Logged Actions and Other Activity.
  2. Then click a category to review. For example, Below Your Posts, you can tap on Photos and Videos.

How Do I View Things I’ve Hidden On My Facebook Timeline?

Also, through the Facebook activity log, you can view things like posts, photos, and videos that you have previously hidden on your profile.

Here are the steps to view things you have hidden on your profile:

  1. Tap your profile picture in the top right of Facebook.
  2. Select Settings & Privacy, then tap Activity Log.
  3. In the left column, click Logged Actions and Other Activity.
  4. Then, click Hidden from profile. You can also scroll up to Filters and click Date to filter your content by Year to make it easier to search.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Remember, though, that things you have hidden on your Facebook profile are still visible to the audience they are shared with other places on the social networking site, such as in Feed and Search.
