Many people are lucky enough that the only war-related thing they get to experience in their lifetime is through media and video games such as Call of Duty. As such, some people have a tendency to forget that war is something that has impacted and continues to impact real people in other parts of the world, children included.
Fortunately, there are empathetic people out there who have dedicated their time to help out these kids, and this time around, they are reaching out to highly-acclaimed video games such as Fall Guys to assist them in raising funds.
War Child UK is an organization that specifically focuses on helping children that have been affected by war and other similar conflicts around the world by means of providing education and refuge.
This charity organization has been raising funds via video game charity streaming events since 2006. As such, most of the money it has been making use of comes from video games.
This time around, War Child UK, in collaboration with Devolver Digital and Mediatonic, will be making the platformer battle royale Fall Guys the focal point in its latest annual fundraiser called Armistice.
Beginning this November 19 all the way through November 30, Fall Guys will be the star in a series of charity streams. In order to motivate viewers to donate any amount, the organization is requesting renowned streamers to stream the kid-friendly battle royale title during that time period.
That being said, those who are interested in participating in the charity event can go ahead and register on Tiltify, which is known for being a fundraising platform.
The best part is that the total amount donated by UK viewers from November 19 to February 18, 2021 will be calculated, and the British government will donate the same exact amount to the organization. In other words, the total amount raised will be doubled.
With that said, there’s an alternative way for gamers to contribute to the cause. There will be a special Armistice sale on Steam starting today until November 17. All the games on offer will be sold at discounted prices, and the one factor that links them all together is that they’re all non-violent games.
Namely, you’ll find titles such as I am Bread, 80 Days, and Mini Metro in the list, with prices that go as low as $0.49. A portion of the proceeds from the Steam Armistice sale will directly go to those war-impacted children.
Given the fact that many of the warzones around the globe have been rendered even more dangerous by the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, any amount will definitely go a long way in helping these kids out.
In any case, this wouldn’t be the first time that a charity organization has partnered with Fall Guys. Shortly after the game’s initial release earlier this year, Fall Guys held a charity event called “Battle of the Brands.”
The charity event was basically a bidding war, wherein companies and popular names were challenged to offer the highest donation possible to Special Effect, another charity that prioritizes gamers with physical disabilities.
In exchange for the highest donation, the winning company’s brand would be added as a skin or costume in Fall Guys. Needless to say, the event was a huge success. Since Mediatonic and Devolver Digital are always willing to help out with charity events such as this, we’re sure that we’ll be seeing more of these events in the future.
