Vanaheim, the home of the Vanir gods and every manner of perilous plant life in “God of War Ragnarök,” you can find a total of 35 Nornir Chests. These Chests, also known as Rune Chests, offer some of the best in-game rewards, such as raising Kratos’ Health and Range for locating Apples of Idunn and Horns of the Blood Meads.
However, getting these Chests in Freya’s home realm requires you to solve the most complicated and confusing chest puzzles in the entire game, urging you to think outside the box and think on your feet to claim the coveted rewards. Here’s your guide to finding and obtaining the chest.
You can find the Nornir Chest inside the Veiled Passage. Access this area by entering from the river’s south to Goddess Falls. As you row through the cave, keep an eye on the right-hand area for a tiny shore you can beach on.
You will spot a lava rock dispenser here. Grab one, then proceed right and throw it over at the golden rocks to clear your way toward the Nornir Chest.
Then, you will find three Bells to the West on the cave wall’s far end. The right-hand side bell is drenched in Red Fungi Bramble, both this with the left-hand side ball are behind cages, so don’t bother getting your Leviathan Axe because it won’t work here. Instead, grab your Hex Bubbles with Sigil Arrows.
Below are the steps:
- First, destroy the Red Fungi Bramble, cloaking the right-hand bell. Be sure you set up a Hex Bubble on this.
- Then, get your lava rock from the dispenser and throw it at the bubble. This fire detonates it, burning down the Fungi Bramble.
- Now, the Bramble is gone. You should then put two Hex Bubbles proximate to the left- and right-hand Runes.
- Then, place the third Hex Bubble midway, then fire thrice to expand it to its biggest sizing.
- Lastly, get a lava rock from the dispenser pot to throw at the Hex Bubble you placed in the middle earlier. It sets off all three bubbles and rings all the bells simultaneously. You’re done.

Loosely based on Norse mythology, this video game is set in ancient Scandinavia with the hero being Kratos, who, with her teenage son Atreus, work their way to preventing the Nine Realms from being shattered by Ragnarök, the eschatological event famous in Norse mythology, foretold to happen in the prequel after Kratos murdered Baldur, the Aesir god.
