It has almost been a month since Nintendo revealed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and during that time, excited fans have been offered countless new information and details about the game.
In fact, the Nintendo of America Twitter account showed off new gameplay screenshots of one of Age of Calamity’s playable characters just recently.
In the Legend of Zelda franchise’s timeline, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is set before the events of Breath of the Wild. As such, fans are curious to see how the game’s narrative will fit in the previous game’s established plot.
On the other side of the spectrum, other fans are excited to experience the Dynasty Warriors-style gameplay once again. Hyrule Warriors also has a bunch of familiar playable characters for you to choose from, providing you with a decent amount when it comes to variety.
Most of these playable characters are those heroes who battled against Calamity Ganon many, many years before Breath of the Wild. One of those heroes is Urbosa, the champion of Gerudo.
In a tweet posted today, Nintendo officially revealed gameplay screenshots showing Urbosa in action. We’re impressed by what we can see, as it looks like the Gerudo champion has a pretty powerful move-set.
Just like in Breath of the Wild, Urbosa will be making use of lightning abilities. The ability to defeat dozens of enemies with a lightning strike will surely be satisfying to many players. Not only that, but Age of Calamity will have a local co-op mode, making it easier to take out enemies while having fun with friends at the same time.

Fans don’t have to wait that long to experience this Breath of the Wild prequel, too. Despite the fact that the game was announced fairly recently, about less than a month ago, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is set to be released this November 20.
That being said, there’s still a lot of details about the title that Nintendo has yet to announce, especially since it’s releasing in a little over a month. Recently, the company has also revealed that Impa would be another playable character.
So far, Nintendo has been doing a good job at steadily maintaining the hype for Age of Calamity and we’re definitely interested to see what else the game has in store for us fans. Another aspect of the game we’re interested in is the narrative.
As mentioned, the upcoming game will be set years before Breath of the Wild. As such, this could impact the story in various interesting ways and will provide much-needed context to the events that take place in Breath of the Wild itself.
Hopefully, this entry of Hyrule Warriors will tie the franchise’s narrative together. This also brings exciting implications for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, although we will have to wait indefinitely for Nintendo to release more details on that.
In any case, Legend of Zelda has always been a well-loved franchise and we’re so proud to see how just how far the series has come – from its first 1986 2-D entry for the Famicon to its current installment with its high-quality graphics.
