Xbox has a lot of amazing games for you to play from its library. However, it is understandable that some gamers are not fully satisfied with the game they got or purchased. Luckily, you should know that there is a way for you to refund games you bought digitally. Here are the steps and other information you might find helpful.
Steps On Refunding A Game On Xbox
It is fairly easy to refund a game on Xbox.
- First, visit the Xbox order history page in a web browser either on your console, PC, or smartphone.
- Then, choose the item you intend to refund before you click the “Request a refund” option.
- Cite a reason why you are returning or refunding the item, which can include a change of mind.
- Once done with the previous step, choose “Next,” then select “Submit.”
There you go. But note, though, that Microsoft will say it may take up to three days or 72 hours to process the refund you request. The company will also tell you they will just contact you with updates on the process as they happen.
But You Have To Meet Certain Criteria
While requesting a refund is easy and straightforward, you still have to meet specific criteria.
- First, your refund request for the game must be made within 14 days from the date you purchased it.
- You should not have played the game for a long time.
- You can only request a refund using the same account from where you made your purchase previously.
- Your account has not reached the limit for requesting refunds within a year.
Refunds Do Not Apply To All Games
Remember also that refunds do not apply to the following:
- Games you purchased at discounts
- Games part of a bundle
- DLC and expansions
- Games purchased as gifts provided that it is the recipient
Will I Really Get My Money Back?
Your question, right? Well, yes, of course. But keep in mind that refunds for digital purchases on Xbox will be returned via the payment method you used.
Meaning to say, if you paid using a debit or credit card, the funds will be returned to your bank account. Or the balance will be reversed on your credit card.
If you used PayPal to pay for your purchase, you will see the funds reflected on your PayPal balance, but this may take a few days.
If you made the purchase via the wallet balance on your Xbox account, you won’t receive the money, but rather, the money will be added back to your balance on your Xbox account.
