Jordi Mollà, an artist and performer, has renewed his relationship with Raini and Krew Studios, following the selling of his “I shall overwhelm you with my flowers” NFT.
Mollà, whose film credits include Jack Ryan, Blow, and Bad Boys II, is teaming up with the NFT platform and creative studio to launch Masks, an NFT drop. The collection includes a variety of one-of-a-kind digital masks based on a collection carefully hand-painted by the self-taught Spanish artist, with a December 8 release date.
Mollà has worn numerous masks as an actor, and the collection was inspired by the personalities and roles we all adopt in our everyday encounters with the world. Ten thousand masks were 3D-rendered, animated, and tokenized, with a portion gaining both physical and digital redemption rights. The mint will open a two-hour presale window on Wednesday, December 8 at 8 p.m. UTC, followed by a general sale at 10 p.m. UTC.
The winner of Mollà’s previous work received five whitelist places for the new collection, as well as an invitation to an extravagant NFT event held by Krew Studios on December 4. The Art Basel Miami Beach event, which is part of the city’s annual Art Week, will educate spectators on the different ways Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) technology is being integrated into the next release.
Krew Studios, an emergent NFT launchpad, is actively pursuing a slew of exclusive artist and gallery collaborations as it tries to bridge the gap between physical and digital art. The studio has handed 50 Members Only whitelist credentials to community members ahead of the Masks drop, granting holders access to forthcoming Krew drops and events (including the Masks party), community voting, and airdrops.
In addition to 50 such golden tickets, 1,000 Studio Discord members have been whitelisted for the Masks NFT sale. The Krew team has thrown down the gauntlet by urging the general public to join Discord and get their whitelist privileges.
Raini, which offers yield farming, a play-to-earn trading card game, and a curated NFT launchpad and marketplace, is also providing token holders with special access to the sale: 500 mask NFTs will be made available to those who supply liquidity or stake $RAINI through the platform’s Unicorn and Rainbow pools.
Synergies between the worlds of art and NFTs continue to emerge, with many even questioning if the $10.7 billion in trading volume recorded in the third quarter will be eclipsed in the fourth.
One of the year’s greatest stories has been blockchain’s disruptive impact on the conventional art market, which has brought works to the notice of a larger demographic of consumers while presenting a real use case for distributed ledger technology (DLT).
Beeple, a digital artist, became the third richest living artist in March when he sold his tokenized piece The First 5,000 Days for $69 million at Christie’s. Millionaire art collectors and consortiums, and artists looking to transfer their creative abilities to the blockchain showed extraordinary interest in the NFT market.
