Marvel Studios Is Slowing Down Its Releases On Disney+, President Feige Confirms

Some bad news for Marvel fans. The Marvel Studios president himself, Kevin Feige, has confirmed that it is slowing down its releases on Disney+. 

Undoubtedly, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded to such an extensive degree. Alongside its success in the film industry, the MCU also has grown into the world of television and streaming with several Disney+ series. 

However, things are about to change soon. 

Big changes for Marvel on Disney+

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Feige acknowledged that, while it is great to be in the zeitgeist, he thinks Marvel Studios will start spacing out its products in the upcoming phases.

“I do think one of the powerful aspects of being at Marvel Studios is having these films and shows hit the zeitgeist,” the Marvel Studios president said. “It is harder to hit the zeitgeist when there’s so much product out there — and so much ‘content,’ as they say, which is a word that I hate. [Laughs] But we want Marvel Studios and the MCU projects to really stand out and stand above. So, people will see that as we get further into Phase 5 and 6. The pace at which we’re putting out the Disney+ shows will change so they can each get a chance to shine.”

Feige was also asked whether the change of pace means Marvel Studios shows will get spaced out more or whether fewer shows will be released altogether. He did not specify what he meant but answered the question by saying “both.”

Right now, Marvel Studios has a total of seven Disney+ shows in production. These include “Secret Invasion,” “What If…?” Season 2, “Ironheart,” “Loki” Season 2, “Agatha: Coven of Chaos,” “Echo,” and “Daredevil: Born Again.” All these shows are slated to take place in Phase 5 of the MCU, and they are set to release either this year or early 2024. 

Meanwhile, Phase 6 of the MCU has no current shows planned, but rumors are saying it will include sequel seasons for “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” “Moon Knight,” “Ms. Marvel,” and more. 

Other streaming news

Meanwhile, in other streaming news, CNN reported last week that Netflix had extended its new password-sharing policy to countries that include Canada, New Zealand, Spain, and Portugal. 

Users in these locations will already have to pay to give people they do not live with access to their account after similar regulations were tested in Latin America last year. 

Under these new rules, subscribers to Standard or Premium plans of Netflix can play for up to two individuals beyond their household to use their account. 

Adding a new person will cost around $5.96 in Canada, $5.09 in New Zealand, $4.30 in Portugal, and $6.45 in Spain. 

Netflix began introducing this change in 2022 in Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Peru. It reportedly plans to roll out the new regulations “more broadly” sometime before March, according to its letter to shareholders the previous month.

‘Resident Evil Village’ VR Mode’s New Official Gameplay Trailer Revealed!

Capcom on Tuesday has officially revealed the newest trailer of “Resident Evil Village” VR mode, and with what the trailer has, there are more reasons to get excited about the upcoming game. 

“Resident Evil Village’s” VR mode is the marquee launch horror game of PlayStation VR2. However, the Japanese video game developer and publisher has only revealed so little of it since its announcement. 

However, the recent trailer launched finally revealed more details about the game, showing off more levels and mechanics, both new and old.  

What the trailer shows

The trailer starts with the widely praised House Beneviento level, as well as the monstrous baby lurking around its halls. The following scenes showcase some of the game’s new systems since it is the virtual reality version. 

It is also shown that players with the VR mode can already hold and aim the flashlight after grabbing it from their coat pocket, which goes hand-in-hand with this game’s new dual-wielding ability. 

Furthermore, the map is also now a physical item players must hold up. Meaning, they can no longer take refuge in the menus when navigating their way. 

The trailer also showed the inventory system that lets players move things around and place weapons at four different spots on their bodies for easy access, particularly the shoulder, leg holster, back pocket, and coat pocket. The knife is also located on the upper part of the player’s left arm. 

Plus, there is a new shooting range where gamers can test their marksmanship. Likewise, there are also upgrades on melee attacks since Ethan can punch enemies this time, and knives are now throwable. 

In addition, more minor interactions that used to be automated have now been opened up to the player, providing more interactivity to the game. You can already examine items by twisting them around your hand, physically place keys in doors, open latches and briefcases, and play the piano.

The DLC is still free for existing “Resident Evil Village” owners and will drop this February 22nd together with PlayStation VR2. A VR demo will also be available for those who do not have the 2021 horror game yet.

Last year, players at the Tokyo Game Show were able to demo “Resident Evil Village” on the PlayStation VR2. Among those who were able to try the game were the people from Press Start, Australia’s biggest gaming outlet. 

They said they are “very impressed,” issuing a statement that read, “The PlayStation VR2 headset does for Village what the PlayStation VR did for Resident Evil 7, only even better thanks to the impressive new hardware. For starters, it’s gorgeous. RE:V already looks great but the VR version, clearly helped along by the power of the PS5, looks every bit as stunning. There’s a presence to the environment that was missing on the older VR hardware with its obvious screen-door effect, lower resolution and cut-back details. Now, it’s a far less compromised experience that comes off as incredibly lifelike, and the new OLED HDR displays in the headset are phenomenal.”

“Resident Evil Village” is the sequel to “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.” In this game, gamers play as Ethan Winters, searching for his kidnapped daughter in a village full of mutant creatures.
