Fortnite dataminers claim that they have discovered what new skin will be coming in the game’s next crossover. While they didn’t discover a sure thing, a clue in the code has them believing that Lara Croft is the next character arriving to Fortnite.
Crossovers are nothing new to Fortnite. Having recently completed a Marvel crossover that ended with a reset after Galactus swallowed the world, new skins have been appearing occasionally. Those characters include bounty hunters like Kratos from God of War and The Mandalorian. Not it seems another character from another video game is arriving to Fortnite if the datamined information is to be believed.
Mang0e, a Fortnite dataminer, posted his discovery on his Twitter account last weekend. The post states that a new Fortnite crossover skin is arriving with a codename of “Typhoon.” Aside from the name, the data apparently featured the new skin belongs to a female character with reactive styles. The dataminer also discovered that the entrance to the map for this mysterious character will be denoted with a “flicker effect.”
A new crossover skin, "Typhoon" will arrive soon.

– It's portal seems to have a custom "flicker" effect

While the codename Typhoon is a direct giveaway, some fans believe that this is a rather significant clue. These fans claim that the codename points to the opening of the 2013 remake of Tomb Raider. In the said game, the opening scene features Lara Croft stranded on an island after a strong “typhoon” sinks her ship.
Other Fortnite fans hoping Lara Croft is joining points out the apparent “reactive” style of the character’s skin. Some fans believe that the more damage the character receives, the more dirt and blood appears. This too would be a tribute to the Tomb Raider reboot that usually shows her beaten and battered in tough environments.
A recent tweet from the official Twitter account of Tomb Raider apparently has Fortnite fans even more hyped. That tweet featured Lara thinking about three specific items and one of those is a pickaxe. The pickaxe has been an iconic tool in Fortnite. Another item shown in the tweet is a bow and arrow. Some believe this hints at the bounty hunter theme that has been involved in several of the crossover characters in the current season.
Developer Epic Games has not verified whether or not Lara Croft is really arriving in the game just yet. Other fans of the game are also expecting that another endeared female character is the intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran will be joining the game sooner or later.
Whoever is next to arrive in the Fortnite battle royale should come as soon as Season 5 is set to conclude on March 16, 2021.
