In the sensational anime “My Hero Academia,” the term “quirk” is synonymous with a superpower, just like how Disney’s “Encanto” has the concept of “gifts.”

A quirk, translated to “individuality” and “extraordinary ability,” is a superhuman ability a person can possess. Quirks are unique to each other and are sorted into various categories.

“My Hero Academia” revolves around Izuku Midoriya, who isn’t bestowed with a quirk, just as Mirabel Madrigal of “Encanto” isn’t given a gift. However, Midoriya inherits the power of the best superhero in the world and enrolls in a high school for heroes, where his adventure to becoming a hero begins.

One of the strongest quirks in the anime is that of Cathleen Bate, also known as Star and Stripe. Let’s go ahead and check out this quirk of this character in this concise discussion.

First, Who Is Star And Stripe?

Judging by her name alone, you can already understand who she is. Star and Stripe is a relatively new character in “My Hero Academia,” first seen by the viewers during the sixth season’s finale.

It is said that she strikingly resembles All Might, making her one of the strongest heroes in the anime series, though she has not yet encountered Midoriya and his friends at UA Academy.

Star and Stripe was the highest-ranking Pro Hero in the United States, hence her name, and she was “the most powerful woman in the world” (in the story, since Wonder Woman might appeal). As a child, Star and Stripe was inspired to follow All Might’s after the latter saved her life from criminals.

About Star And Stripe’s Quirk

Star and Stripe’s quirk is called “New Order.” New Order is, thus far, the most potent quirk in “My Hero Academia.” It defies the laws of reality in such a way that has never been seen before yet.

However, she can only activate this quirk by touching her target and calling out its true name. But, afterward, she can impose rules on her surroundings and change the properties of her targets. Note, though, that she can just impose two rules at a time.

With New Order, she can touch the atmosphere, set a rule for the air surrounding her, and turn the atmosphere into a giant version of herself that also mimics her movements.

But, New Order Has Limitations

Star and Stripe isn’t a God for her power to be limitless. So, her quirk has some restrictions in place, albeit being the most substantial power in “My Hero Academia.”

First, she cannot use her quirk to become invincible. Second, as you learned earlier, she can only use two rules at a time.

Then, she cannot inflict damage to targets she doesn’t touch, even if she uses clever wordplay. Lastly, she still has to make physical contact with her target and then mention its name, which you also learned a while ago.

Those are every essential information you need to know about Star and Stripe’s powerful quirk. If you want to appreciate “My Hero Academia” more, use the guide above. Happy viewing!
