Blizzard Entertainment’s first-person shooter game “Overwatch 2” is all set to introduce a myriad of exciting changes with its Season 8 patch.
Season 8 will arrive today, December 5th, introducing the new Tank hero Mauga, two all-new in-game events, bug fixes, and more. Blizzard Entertainment is also introducing weapon skins, allowing gamers to buy and equip various cosmetics with custom effects for some of their favorite heroes. Here’s a closer look at what’s dropping today.
This launch date is also the day the Season 7 Battle Pass expires, so you can jump into the brand-new season right away without any mishaps. Enjoy!
New Tank Mauga
The new Tank, Samoan Mauga, comes armed with two Chainguns that can effectively inflict incendiary and critical damage. They also can heal allies nearby when they attack enemies.
Mauga is a Talon operative already present in the much larger “Overwatch” universe and has been subtly previewed for years. Welcome, Mauga!
Battle Pass changes
Additionally, Blizzard Entertainment has also confirmed that Season 8 is bound to bring changes to the Battle Pass, something that fans have long wished for. Notably, the way Mythic skins are distributed is being changed drastically.
Players can now choose from any Mythic they have not unlocked yet, allowing them to select styles for characters they are more likely to play with.
Winter Wonderland event
Not just those, but also, as you have read earlier, two new events are coming with the release of Season 8. The first is the Winter Wonderland event.
Celebrate the festive holiday season with the return of this event. This season, you can have Formalwear skins for Cassidy and Baptiste alongside the Winter Jammies Illari skin.
Players will also get the chance to play Mei’s Snowball Offensive, as well as the Yeti Hun game modes, when Winter Wonderland launches this December 19th.
Year of the Dragon event
Another event to look forward to as the game celebrates the Lunar New Year is the Year of the Dragon event. Beginning on January 30th, 2024, this allows players to play the prop hunt game mode on the Lijiang Night Market Map. It is also slated to feature game modes like Bounty Hunter Deathmatch and Capture the Flag. The fun never ends.
Battle of the Beasts
Season 8 will also introduce a fun 4v4 PvPvE game mode called the Battle of the Beasts, where players can fight in a powerful brawl with the most epic and powerful Grand Beasts. You will play Mauga for free here, as he is the only Tank to play in this mode. Or, try your hand as one of the several other hunter-themed heroes. May the best hunter win.
