The world’s biggest online shopping platform, Amazon, recently made headlines in the anime world thanks to a glitch that saw “Dragon Ball” Super Hero” offering digital copies of the movie for its lowest price yet.

Amazon is making another move of the same kind as it offers “Paranoia Agent,” dubbed as one of anime’s most remarkable series, for such as low price. Here’s the story.

“Paranoia Agent’s” complete series is now available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video for only $4.99. The official product page also states you will be getting the original Japanese version.

Furthermore, Twitter netizen @Wario64 also shared how you can pick up the anime horror story that has once brought thrills to and took the anime world by storm.

“Paranoia Agent” is about a social phenomenon in Musashino, Tokyo, caused by a juvenile serial assailant who goes by the name Lil’ Slugger. The plot relays between a large cast of people affected in some way by this phenomenon. Usually, these are Lil’ Slugger’s victims or the detectives assigned to apprehend this assailant. As each character becomes the plot’s focus, more details about their secret lives and the truth about Lil’ Slugger are revealed.

The anime first hit the scene in 2004, exploring a terrifying story that focused on its mysterious character, Lil’ Slugger. Lil’ Slugger is a faceless teenager on rollerblades that uses a broken bat to assault people in the wee hours of the night.

While this is the premise on paper for the chilling anime adaptation, the series from Studio Madhouse and legendary director, Satoshi Kon finds itself exploring some unexpected territory while navigating the dark corners of the universe.

“Paranoia Agent” ran for 13 episodes and was even shown in North America via Cartoon Network’s Toonami.

“Paranoia Agent, Perfect Blue, Paprika, and Millennium Actress all share the same theme; blurring the lines between reality and fantasy/fiction. Same meaning, slightly distinct executions,” said a review online by Samantha Zamora.

Here are more reviews written about “Paranoia Agent.”

“I have always been a ‘Satoshi Kon’ fan after watching ‘Perfect Blue’ and ‘Paprika’. His vision and imagination are out of the world. The way he handles [the] psychology of each and every character is wonderful and probably he is the only one who can do this with such perfection,” wrote 24 Frames of Caspian. “Each episode follows a character and their own stress and struggles in their life. And his unique storytelling and cinematography make this series creepy as hell.”

Meanwhile, for another netizen, bruh, they said the series had provided elements that may be shocking or deterring to some, but to others, it has deep metaphorical meanings that may leave the viewer with a stronger connection to their own psyche.

“Overall, this series is not for the faint of heart, as it does explore themes that might be shocking– but at the same time, it paints a beautifully complex picture of who we truly are,” they added.

Did those push you to go and watch the anime? If it did, grab it cheaply at Amazon Prime Video.
