The first “Pokémon GO” Spotlight Hour took place in February 2020, roughly four years after the mobile game was conceived.

Spotlight Hours are “Pokémon GO’s” weekly events, highlighting a certain Pokémon by giving these monsters a double bonus and boosting spawn rates.

You don’t want to miss this event, so here’s the schedule of “Pokémon GO” Spotlight Hour for July, the biggest month of the game.

When’s The Next ‘Pokémon GO’ Spotlight Hour?

The next “Pokémon GO” Spotlight Hour is Tuesday, July 16th. The featured Pokémon is Binacle, a Pokémon resembling a goose barnacle, a Rock-/Water-type monster. During that day, Binacle will appear more often in the wild between 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern Time.

That said, you can join and catch this Pokémon in whichever part of the world you are. This Spotlight Hour event featuring Binacle will also reward you with double Candy for transferring Pokémon.

Also, yes, Binacle can be Shiny in the game.

After July 16th, the following Spotlight Hours will take place:

  • July 23rd – From 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern Time, you can catch the featured Pokémons, both Diglett forms (which can be Shiny), and get 2x Evolution XP.
  • July 30th – From 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern Time, you can catch the featured Pokémon Togedemaru (which can be Shiny) and get 2x Catch Stardust.

Gearing Up For The ‘Pokémon GO’ Spotlight Hour

Spotlight Hours last only 60 minutes, so you must make the most of them if you don’t want to miss out on opportunities. Here’s your preparation guide.

  1. Ensure you have sufficient Poké Balls to catch several featured Pokémons – of course.
  2. Ensure you have sufficient Berries to obtain double Candy, making catching much simpler.
  3. Clear out your Pokémon Storage Box to accommodate every pocket monster you will catch.
  4. Save up PokéCoins and buy an Incense you can use for this event.
  5. As the Spotlight Hour event involves double XP for evolving your monster, you should tag a sizable selection of Pokémons in your collection that is ready to evolve. This also saves you from all the while searching during the Spotlight Hour event.

Wrapping up, Spotlight Hour events are the perfect chance for you to utilize any space items, such as Star Pieces or Lucky Eggs, to increase the XP and Stardust you will earn throughout the event.

Niantic’s Spotlight Hour event for “Pokémon GO” gives trainers one hour to catch as many featured Pokémon as possible. It’s the best way to fill out your Pokédex and earn adequate Candy to evolve the monster.

“Pokémon GO” is your augmented reality mobile game, part of the Pokémon franchise, developed and published by San Francisco-based Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for iOS and Android.
