Reliable Leaker Says God of War Ragnarok Will Be At PlayStation Showcase 2021

While many fans had hoped for a new State of Play shortly, Sony appears to have taken a different path and released a huge bombshell. It has been announced that the PlayStation Showcase 2021 will take place on September 9 at 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET. The session will run 40 minutes and will focus on games coming out “this Christmas season and beyond.”

Sony has a knack for tempering expectations when it comes to such occasions. For example, the most recent State of Play said that fans should not expect God of War: Ragnarok or Horizon Forbidden West ahead of time.

The one thing Sony left off the table this time was PSVR2, leaving fans to speculate on what type of games may be available. God of War: Ragnarok will make an appearance during the showcase, according to a credible leaker.

Shpeshal Nick, who has a history of consistently leaking items like PS Plus games, shared a screenshot shortly after Sony made the announcement. A chat between Nick and a “CENSORED” no image user is seen in the screenshot. Nick inquires as to whether God of War will be there, to which the other user replies, “Yes.”

Nick had also essentially released the Sony PlayStation Showcase, which lends credibility to this theory. The screenshot was taken from a Quote Tweet by himself, in which he claims that when people asked him about August, he informed them that his source hadn’t heard anything.

However, he was informed to expect something like a Sony event in September at the time of the tweet (August 31). To put it another way, as far as leaks go, Nick appears to be hitting all the right notes.

It does, however, make a lot of sense. Because this isn’t a State of Play, it sounds like a Sony event on par with E3 that fans have been anticipating all summer. It makes sense to go large since Sony mentions both big and small studios, and it doesn’t get much bigger than God of War: Ragnarok right now. It should be noted, though, that events like this might alter without warning, so it’s still conceivable that it won’t be there. It’s also possible that Nick and his source are mistaken.

At the moment, though, this appears to be one of the few trustworthy God of War sequel leaks. The next major issue is what it will depict, and given that the game is set to release in the first part of next year, a cinematic trailer appears to be the most likely option. If fans are lucky, the release date for God of War: Ragnarok will be announced. Regardless, fans will have to wait and see whether this leak is confirmed and, if so, what will be displayed.
