Sonic Colors Ultimate Physical Launch Has Been Postponed

Sega has revealed that the physical distribution of Sonic Colors: Ultimate would be delayed in some regions, nearly two weeks after the game’s debut. Since the worldwide epidemic began, there has been an upsurge in the number of upcoming releases that have been postponed as a result of the virus.

Although Sonic Colors: Ultimate is a remake with considerable graphic improvements over the original game, the game’s fresh features help it stand out. This features the new Rival Rush mode, in which players compete in courses against Metal Sonic.

Sonic will also get a new wisp called jade ghost, which will let him travel through solid things and access secret locations. With the inclusion of park tokens, Sonic will be able to modify his gloves and boots.

With Sonic Colors: Ultimate’s digital release approaching, SEGA Europe has stated that the physical release would be postponed indefinitely in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Australia and New Zealand, as well as the North American release, are exempt from the delay. The reason for the delay is due to “unforeseen logistical problems,” and further information about a new release date will be revealed in the future.

The announcement of this physical delay is comparable to the numerous delays in the physical distribution of Doki Doki Literature Club Plus. The physical collector’s edition of Doki Doki Literature Club Plus, which contained additional endings published online on June 30, has been frequently delayed due to “production and shipping as a result of COVID-19.” The physical release date has been set for September 21st. Given that this isn’t the first time it’s been postponed, there’s a chance it’ll be delayed again before the release date.

While the specific reason for Sonic Colors: Ultimate’s delay is unknown, it is known that COVID-19 has had an impact on the creation of numerous games and has been the cause of multiple game delays. It wouldn’t be unexpected if the epidemic were to blame for the delays in the physical release of Sonic Colors: Ultimate.

Physical releases are still planned for North America and Europe, however, fans in the EMEA area will have to wait a little longer for the game to arrive at their doorstep. Delays like this also make buying games digitally a tempting option in these kinds of scenarios.
