Sony has officially released the PlayStation 5, providing fans an array of games to play right out of the box. However, there are still a lot of PlayStation 5 titles to look forward to in 2021 as well, with Sony posting a commercial showcasing some of the largest PlayStation 5 exclusive titles to be released next year.
The PlayStation 5 New Worlds to Explore advertisement features several of the popular launch titles such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls remake. However, it also featured some of the games coming next years such as Returnal, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon Forbidden West, and Gran Turismo 7, all of which have been recently announced to arrive on the PlayStation 5.
Based on the promo video, Returnal, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and Gran Turismo 7 are all scheduled for launch within the first half of next year. A specific release date hasn’t been revealed as of writing, but this means that gamers should be able to anticipate the games to release sometime in June 2021.
Speculating development continues to go well despite the pandemic, PlayStation 5 owners should have a consistent supply of high-quality games to look forward to in the coming year. Meanwhile, Horizon Forbidden West appears to be coming sometime in the second half of next year, and could likely be Sony’s huge holiday highlight game.
While most players are familiar with what Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon Forbidden West, and Gran Turismo 7 are, some may not be aware of Returnal. Returnal is currently being developed by Housemarque, a gaming studio popular for high rated PlayStation exclusive titles such as Nex Machina and Resogun.
Returnal appears to be one of Housemarque’s most ambitious games yet, integrating the third-person shooting genre with psychological horror elements. Basing on its visual capabilities, Returnal has been quite remarkable, so it’s interesting that it’s supposedly nearing the end of its development.
Obviously, there many other PlayStation 5 games scheduled to launch next year aside from those featured in the trailer. One good example is Destruction Allstars, a game initially planned to be a PlayStation 5 release title, will launch sometime in February as a free PS Plus title.
In addition, there are also a lot of multiplatform titles to look forward to as well, such as Resident Evil 8, and the next-gen edition of Cyberpunk 2077. Regardless, 2021 will certainly be a big year for Sony’s PlayStation 5, especially as more systems become available and more fans are able to secure one.
