Stephen Curry, the NBA star, has apparently teamed up with two of the largest on-chain metaverse projects for what appears to be an NFT drop.

Initial statements on the Decentraland and The Sandbox Twitter accounts were purposefully brief, merely saying that basketball legend Stephen Curry will release “something good.” The notice did, however, imply that there would be a charity event with the purpose of “spreading the joy of athletics to every child.”

Meanwhile, Curry, who took on the CryptoApe persona on Twitter, has indicated that he will release an NFT collection collaborating with artists Floyd Norman and Andrea McDonald. The Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation will receive 100% of the revenues.

On Tuesday, Curry surpassed the NBA record for lifetime 3-point shots scored during the Golden State Warriors’ 105-96 triumph over the New York Knicks. He is in his 13th season in the NBA and has spent his whole career with the Warriors.

Stephen Curry will issue 2,974 unique NFTs to commemorate the historic achievement, one for each 3-pointer he has made on his journey to the record. The collection will be available on FTX.com today at 8 p.m. EST for $499 USD apiece. It is unclear what role The Sandbox and Decentraland will have in their collaboration with Curry.
