The up-and-coming decentralized exchange platform known as SushiSwap might have only been established last year, but it has been quickly rising up the charts alongside other popular platforms. Now, it appears that the platform will be releasing something new—specifically, SushiSwap will be entering the non-fungible token (NFT) hype and metaverse spaces that have been capturing headlines for the past couple of weeks.
The name of this brand-new initiative by SushiSwap is Shoyu, and it officially launched today. This campaign takes place only half a year since it was initially proposed within the SushiSwap forums.
Shoyu’s curation team had a selection period that went on for a couple of weeks, where they carefully chose among popular digital artists. Now, it seems the search is over, and a fair number of renowned artists will be given a major opportunity to submit and display their digital art within the brand-new NFT universe. Some renowned names include:

- Thom Mayne
- Keyon Christ
According to the Shoyu team, the NFT platform will be fully compatible with the ecosystem set up for Sushi. In other words, this means that Shoyu will be one of the “first artistic marketplaces” that combines both the art world and the incredible advancements brought about by decentralized finance.
NFT has been making huge waves in the crypto world since its initial launch earlier this year, and countless platforms and even renowned identities have been joining in on the fun. As for SushiSwap, the platform definitely made a bold decision for intertwining both NFTs and the metaverse.
Shoyu’s goal is to transform the traditional web-based NFT marketplace we know today into a 3D experience within the metaverse. Not only that, they want this modernized experience to be accessible for multiple devices, including VR, mobile, desktop, tablet, etc.
With the 3D gallery, the chosen digital artists will be able to provide a one-of-a-kind multisensory installation to the viewers that will take their art to a whole new level. Even 3D sculptures and models will be completely rendered.
