The bright lights of Las Vegas are on the bucket list of many travelers that like to let their hair down and have a good time. This corner of the Nevada desert has been one of the entertainment capitals of the world for many decades, bringing world-class music, cabaret, sport, and casino gaming to Las Vegas Boulevard – known globally as the Las Vegas Strip.

Of course, the cost-of-living crisis has made it harder for some to save for big-ticket vacations like Vegas. The travel costs and accommodation fees of many resorts on the Strip can deter some people from visiting “Sin City.” Instead, some people prefer the idea of sampling classic casino games and slots with an online casino operator. These sites are increasingly regulated and licensed, affording players similar protections to what they’d get at a Vegas Strip resort.

Some operators have even been inspired by Nevada city, with some of the latest casino games like Nevada Nights bringing a little taste of the glitz and glamour that it has to offer. The neon lights and the general pomp and ceremony of a Vegas resort are just unlike anywhere else in the world.

If you’re one of those people desperate to experience the atmosphere of Las Vegas, we’ve got you covered. We’ve put together a shortlist of five of the biggest and best casino resorts on the Strip that first-timers should visit in person. Be sure to add these destinations to your to-do list when planning your trip:

Wynn/Encore – North Strip (191,424 sq. ft)

The combined casino floor space of the Wynn and Encore resorts to the north end of the Strip takes the crown as the biggest casino resort in Vegas. There are more than 1,800 slot machines to sample and more than 180 table games offered. The Wynn is a five-star luxury hotel in its own right, with some exclusive restaurants and buffets, as well as free entertainment such as the Lake of Dreams show. By day, the Encore Beach Club is the place to be for music, and by night it’s the XS nightclub.

Sunset Station – Off-Strip (163,951 sq. ft)

If you are prepared to indulge in car hire to explore beyond the beaten track – or you’re happy to head further in your Uber – make sure you check out Sunset Station. It’s actually in Henderson rather than Las Vegas, but it’s still within easy reach by car. It’s currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, so there are plenty of excellent offers on accommodation here. Aside from its massive casino floor, there’s also an impressive sportsbook and a great range of bars, food outlets, and fine dining restaurants to be had.

MGM Grand – South Strip (161,880 sq. ft)

The MGM brand is synonymous with the gaming and entertainment industries. MGM Grand is a huge landmark at the south end of the Strip. The MGM Grand casino floor is one of the most sprawlings on the Strip. They cover a broad spectrum of table games, including some exciting variants that keep things fresh. There’s a busy poker room for cash game and tournament players, and the MGM Grand Garden Arena plays host to some of the biggest live sporting and music events on the planet. What’s not to like?!

Bellagio – Mid-Strip (156,000 sq. ft)

The majestic Bellagio fountains are one of the most romantic landmarks on the Las Vegas Strip. In fact, this entire casino resort is one of the most decadent experiences you’ll find in Sin City. Inspired by Mediterranean Europe, this place oozes style and sophistication, with high-end restaurants overlooking the fountains and a classy casino floor. You’ll need the wallet to absorb the higher table minimums here, but it’s a wonderful place to spend an evening.

Aria – South-Strip (150,000 sq. ft)

Aria is one of the newest resorts to arrive on the Las Vegas Strip. This contemporary five-star resort characterizes the “new” Vegas, with more luxury and less neon. Staying here is a great option as you’re close to many great resorts like The Cosmopolitan, Bellagio, and Planet Hollywood. The casino floor offers an “elevated experience,” smoke-free air, and a host of table game variants that all work to add a new dimension to the Strip scene.
