Twins are a common sight in pop culture. You are familiar with Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland” twins Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Fred and George Weasley from “Harry Potter,” Tia and Tamera Mowry from the 90s sitcom “Sister, Sister,” Luke and Leia Skywalker in “Star Wars,” and Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin in the world of animes.

They are pretty good angelic twins. But did you know there are also twins in pop media who are bad and evil? Two of them are the Ballerina Twins from the controversial Russian game “Atomic Heart.” Let’s get to know them a bit better in this story.

Who Are The Ballerina Twins?

Inspired by the characters from the Russian ballet “The Nutcracker,” the Ballerina Twins in “Atomic Heart” are the game’s tertiary antagonists. They’re named Left and Right (A pun on left and right political perspectives? You’ll find out later.)

The Ballerina Twins are advanced humanoid robots that serve as Dmitry Sechenov’s personal assistants and bodyguards. Sechenov is the game’s secondary villain.

The exoskeletons of the Twins were built based on theatrical robotic ballerinas, featuring the most cutting-edge and state-of-the-art technology. Underneath their highly elastic exoskeletons is neuropolymer, a substance Sechenov created. This substance can store human memory as the Twins represent the left and right hemispheres of Ekaterina Nechayeva, Sechenov’s wife.

This neuropolymer within their bodies can also store keys and other essentials for their duties. Both Twins demonstrate every characteristic of a ballerina, able to balance effortlessly on their toes. Their bodies are silver-grey, and their hairstyles are a golden-brown crown braid with a star on their foreheads. Both Left and Right are also wearing dark grey ballerina leotards.

They are very much identical in appearance, but one of them is wearing a gold bolero jacket. They’re pretty and attractive, but you also don’t want to mess with them.

The Easiest Ways To Defeat The Ballerina Twins

Progressing into “Atomic Heart” entails defeating the Twins. But beating them can be tricky without knowing the most straightforward ways. You can follow these tips:

  1. Be sure you save your game before going into the battle.
  2. The battle will begin with a series of quick-time events which you must complete to officially start the fight. If you fail, it’s game over.
  3. The Twins work in synergy, so they will attack you simultaneously, making the process even more challenging.
  4. Generally, they don’t have weaknesses, so brute force is necessary.
  5. One will hover and attack you from the air, while the other will stay on the ground and confront you directly from there.
  6. The strategy is to focus and work on one Twin at a time, especially the one on the ground. Stagger her using Shock and inflict as much damage as you can.
  7. The best weapons for your fight versus the Twins are the Shotgun and Fat Boy. But you should also dodge their attacks when necessary.
  8. They will charge up, and once they do, they can deal uninterrupted damage. Make sure you can dodge these attacks well.
  9. Another move of the Ballerina Twins is unleashing polymer projectile flames. Be sure you can avoid these.
  10. They also have the ability to immobilize their enemy and lift them down, slowing down the process of defeating them. To resolve this, stay clear of the rising platforms.
  11. When their HP drops past a particular percentage, they release a series of laser beams that you should also successfully dodge.
  12. In this phase, upgrades protecting the Major from general damage are helpful, as dealing with the robots can be pretty overwhelming.
  13. Remember, the Twins share the same HP pool, so inflicting damage on one will also inflict damage on the other. Simply repeat the process until they’re down, and a cutscene begins.
  14. Feel free to use healing items and customize the difficulty level, lowering it if things are too harsh for you. See? Even the game’s developers want you to win.

About ‘Atomic Heart’

“Atomic Heart” is a rare game of its kind. It’s a first-person shooter video game developed by Mundfish, a Russian game developer. Several critics consider it “controversial” because of its pro-Russia stance and themes.

It is set in an alternate history version of the Soviet Union (the former name of Russia) during the 1950s, the decades that saw the beginning of the Cold War, an event in history in which Russia was hugely involved.

Initially depicted as a retrofuturistic utopia, “Atomic Heart” follows the quick downfall of the Soviet Union toward a dystopia. Because of this, a robot uprising begins. Experience “Atomic Heart” today.
