For First-Time Viewers, What Is ‘High School DxD’?

High School DxD” Season 5 is among the most highly anticipated anime seasons after “One Punch Man 3.” This harem anime series is the adaptation of the light novels, masterpieces created and written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero. The story revolves around the struggles between devils and fallen angels.

Issei Hyodo is a high school boy who falls in love with Yumma and gets killed on his first date but is revived by female devil Rias Gremory who also later makes Issei her servant.

The storyline is intriguing, and this show gets even hotter and hotter as it creates more seasons.

So everybody hooked on the show was left hanging after the last season, and they have been consistently asking and scouring the web for updates, “When is ‘High School DxD’ Season 5 coming out?” We got the juiciest details right here.

When Is ‘High School DxD’ Season 5 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, “High School DxD” Season 5 has not yet been officially confirmed by the original series creators, but it is “in progress,” according to light novel author Ichiei Ishibumi, as per unofficial reports.

But recently, in October 2022, this month as this article is written, the official Twitter account of “High School DxD” posted that all anime episodes will broadcast on the third day of the Niconico Kadokawa Festival 2022 in Japan. Generally, the top-performing animes are featured in this event, so we can expect to hear some good news after its premiere.

There are also some insiders who say that the “High School DxD” Season 5 pilot episode will come around July 2023 on AT-X in Japan and Funimation in the United States, but the original animation studio has not yet confirmed this.

We cannot deduce whether these rumors are true or whether a new season is in the works because the official anime site has not posted anything since 2020.

Except for the author of the novel on which the anime is based. Ichiei Ishibumi has been consistently sharing updates. For one, the author shared on the 14th anniversary of “High School DxD” serialization that more manuscripts are coming of “High School Dxd” Hero Part 2. So do not lose hope.

Furthermore, the fifth season of “High School DxD” was initially set to release in November 2021, but due to the pandemic, it has been delayed to 2023, according to reports.

‘High School DxD’ Season 5 Story

If you ask what the plot of Season 5 will be about, you might already figure this out if you are an avid reader of the novel where the anime is based. Also, this time, the show’s makers have something to say. Read on.

Season 4 of “High School DxD” was based on the ninth and 10th volumes of the light novel. The makers of the show confirmed that Season 5 would be based on volumes 11 and 12 of the light novel.

Having said this, the show is expected to delve deeper into the conflict between the devils and high school students. It will also feature Issei to be in conflict with himself as he tries to make a mark as an all-mighty and powerful devil. Viewers can also expect that Issei will, at last, break the chains of being Rias’ servant and establish his own identity.

However, there are also fan theories and unofficial sources that speculate Season 5 will be adapted from the Hero Oppai Story.

The show is also expected to have more drama as there will be suspicion in Koneko’s mind regarding Issie and Rias’ close relationship.

Though the details differ from various sources and there are really no solid official information yet, Season 5 will certainly entertain the audience with its well-defined plot, visual effects, music, and voice-overs. “High School DxD” will continue to show the mysteries and motives of the devils.
