Bandai Namco, the video game publisher behind the upcoming “Tekken 8,” seems to be putting in extra effort to make the game feel like a complete step forward for the renowned game series in terms of detail and production value.

That includes bringing back some old features that freshen up the matches and that fans truly love.

Revival

Even beyond the core gameplay itself, “Tekken 8” is welcoming back an old yet fun feature to help keep every gamer’s experience.

The details of this are revealed on the official Twitter account of TKN GMR, @tkn_gmr, a platform that tweets all things Tekken. They published a video comparison showing that the beginning of each round will be varied in a handful of different ways.

“Didn’t even notice this at first, but each round in #TEKKEN8 opens with a different camera angle, speed and possible character animation. A nice touch and step up from TEKKEN 7! (emoji),” @tkn_gmr said in the post.

The most obvious is the panning of the camera not only in various directions but also at various speeds before setting in the middle to begin the fight.

Aside from that, there are also multiple-round animations that can appear for each fighter. Plus, some characters will have special introductory animations depending on who they are fighting.

These features are not new, though. These camera tricks and additional animations were previously featured throughout the “Tekken” series, especially in “Tekken 3” and “Tekken 7.”

Also returning are the stage transitions between rounds, and fans will surely love them. Experts hope this pace of development from Bandai Namco will keep up.

New ‘Tekken 8’ trailers

Meanwhile, in other “Tekken 8” news, a pair of new trailers have recently been revealed for the game, both of which unveiled a new character. The first confirmed that long-time combatant Asuka Kazama would return, while the second trailer confirmed that Leroy Smith would also be making his second playable appearance.

Asuka Kazama, Jin Kazama’s cousin, has been appearing in the series since “Tekken 5.” This time, it has been shown that she will have new moves, including her pointing taunt that buffs some of her attacks. Plus, she will also don a new costume, but Executive Director Katsuhiro Harada clarified in a tweet that she will still have her classic outfit. For gamers who are into everything classic, take a breather here.

On the other hand, Leroy Smith is a newcomer to the series since he only made his debut in “Tekken 7.” The trailer shows some of his Wing Chun styles and a cameo of his dog, Sugar. Plus, he also got his own statue on the stage, where his name is found on some signs. Noticeably, there is a sign that reads, “Bob,” seemingly hinting at Bob’s imminent return. We have to wait and see.

“Tekken 8” is an upcoming fighting game by Bandai Namco Studios and Arika, and Bandai Namco Entertainment. It is the eighth main and 10th overall installment in the “Tekken” series. It is slated to be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Windows.
