PVP Live has more.
1. Satoru Gojo’s Name Could Mean A Famous New York Shopping Street – Well, Almost
It is so cool that the writers of “Jujutsu Kaisen” went above and beyond to think of Gojo’s name as not being as fictitious but as a real name in Japan. Particularly, his surname “Gojo” is taken from a wealthy, aristocratic family descended from the Sugawara clan. “Gojo” literally means “Fifth Street,” not entirely “Fifth Avenue” in New York, but resembling each other.
Meanwhile, “Satoru” is a common name among some Japanese people.
2. He Is A Certified Sweet Tooth
Much like Cerberus of “Cardcaptor Sakura,” Gojo likes to indulge in sweet food to stimulate his brain. Who doesn’t? Thus, he ended up becoming a massive fan of all delights sweet and eating them for pleasure, primarily.
It is interesting because he was raised as a spoiled child, but he wasn’t given the chance to have fun with sweets then, so he took the opportunity when he grew up to spoil himself with what he wanted. You’ll read more about this a little later.
3. He Doesn’t Like Drinking Alcohol
Girls, you got to be falling in love with him now. Alcoholic drinks are his least favorite beverages. The story doesn’t specifically state the reason, but anime insiders speculate that this may be because he doesn’t like their taste, how they make him feel, or other reasons. But one thing is certain: he won’t go out with you for a drink.
4. He Was Raised A Spoiled Child
Raising your kid spoiled is a matter of debate. Some don’t like it, while others like to, because you only get to be a child once. Well, Gojo’s mom and dad listened to the latter. He was the first person in four centuries to be born with Six Eyes and the Limitless cursed technique of their clan. Not every kid of his generation would be endowed with these gifts, so considering those quirks, he was a spoiled kid.
5. He’s A ‘Digimon’ Fan
Ah, the collaboration of two popular animes. In the manga, there was a part where he is seen talking about his fanaticism for “Digimon” during a flashback taking place in his high school years. Gojo is like Taylor Swift, born in 1989, so he belongs to the generation that came across “Digimon” in their childhood and teenage years, so it makes sense.
6. Wait Until You Know The Source Of His Stress
This is not explicitly in the story but in the “Jujutsu Kaisen” data book. What stresses him the most is higher-ups getting involved in his business. In other words, he would not cling to the popular and famous. He gets frustrated when those superior to him would meddle with the things he does.
7. He Doesn’t Have Hobbies
In his spare time, he doesn’t do anything. Or, perhaps the better way to say this is that, he doesn’t have spare time at all. He’s so busy, so what’s the point of having a hobby when you don’t have time to practice it, right?
8. His Ancestor Is Based From A Real-Life Person
Gojo and another protagonist in “Jujutsu Kaisen,” Yuta Okkotsu, have a common ancestor, and that is Michizane Sugawara. Now, Sugawara is also the name of a real person from the Heian period, which ran from 794 to 1185. He was Sugawara no Michizane, a scholar, politician, and poet. It is also said that he started learning from the perspective of the Shinto faith. With the Gojo family descending from the Sugawara clan (which is a fascinating marriage of anime and the real world), it makes sense.
9. His Design Resembles That Of A Character In ‘Naruto’
Does Gojo appear as a dead ringer for Kakashi Hatake from “Naruto”? Yes, and for good reason. Both are strong white-haired teachers with fierce personalities, not to mention having childhood friends who eventually became their rivals.
Those who study the anime a bit more closely argue that Gojo is also inspired by Tobitake Tonbo, a more minor character in “Naruto.” But that’s just according to fans, it’s never official.
Those are some interesting trivia about Gojo of “Jujutsu Kaisen.” Did some of those information stun you? If it does, PVP Live strongly recommends that you share this story with your friends and family. You can now stream “Jujutsu Kaisen” on platforms like Netflix and Crunchyroll.
