
2022 has come to a close, and we just welcomed the New Year, the year 2023. For gamers, life goes on, and they are bound to experience more things as the world’s largest media outlets have finally unveiled the trendiest games launching this 2023. What are these games? Be sure to read on.
1. ‘Dead Space’ Remake, January 27th
The first on the list of the biggest games launching this year is the remake of “Dead Space.” The gameplay is all about exploring the eerie, echoing corridors and workspaces within the USG Ishimura, and surviving the nightmarish horrors that shall unfold before you.
This sci-fi survival horror classic returns this year, wholly rebuilt and repurposed from the ground up to offer a more profound and immersive experience. This remake brings in jaw-dropping visual fidelity, together with suspenseful atmospheric audio, as well as new gameplay content and enhancements without veering away from the original game’s thrilling vision.
2. ‘Hogwarts Legacy,’ February 10th
Meanwhile, “Hogwarts Legacy” is an upcoming action role-playing game published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment under its Portkey Games label and developed by Avalanche Software.
The game is set in the universe of the Wizarding World, based on the “Harry Potter” novels and film series, including “Fantastic Beasts.”
3. ‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,’ March 17th
Next on the list is “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.” Picking up five years after the events of “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” this is a third-person, narrative-driven action-adventure game from Respawn Entertainment, developed in partnership with Lucasfilm Games. The game will be available on PlayStation 5.
4. ‘Resident Evil 4’ Remake, March 24th
Game remakes are great since they allow players to experience the older games they have been playing with enhancements. One of the game remakes coming in this 2023 is “Resident Evil 4.”
It is a survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. In the game, players control United States agent Leon S. Kennedy on a mission to rescue Ashley Graham, daughter of the United States president, from a Spanish village dominated by a violent cult worshipping an ancient parasite, Los Illuminados.
5. ‘The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,’ May 12th
Then, you have “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.” This is an upcoming action-adventure game from the development and publication of Nintendo. It is the sequel to “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” which was released in 2017.
6. ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,’ May 26th
If you are a DC fan, particularly “Justice League” and “Suicide Squad,” you will love this game. “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” is an action-adventure game from the developer Rocksteady Studios and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It is also the fifth main installment in the “Batman: Arkham” series, taking place after the events of “Batman: Arkham Knight.”
Based on DC Comics’ “Suicide Squad,” this game revolves around the titular team of super-criminals, assembled by Amanda Waller and sent to Metropolis to stop the alien invader Brainiac, and save the Justice League members who Brainiac has brainwashed.
7. ‘Diablo IV,’ June 6th
Seventh on the list of the biggest games launching this year is “Diablo IV.” It is an action role-playing game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Series features such as the re-playable, procedurally generated dungeons and loot-focused character-building will make their return while incorporating new features such as an open world, and player versus player or PVP interactions.
Five playable classes have been unveiled – Barbarian, Druid, Sorceress, Necromancer, and Rogue. All of which have appeared in the series. Players guide their character through combats and quests in the world of Sanctuary as the once-banished Lilith makes her comeback to wreak havoc.
8. ‘Final Fantasy XVI,’ June 22nd
“Final Fantasy XVI” is an upcoming game that will feature segmented open environments and an action-based combat system involving both melee and magic-based attacks. There will also be recurring series features, including Chocobos and summoned monsters known as Eikons, which are both fought as bosses and used through channeling their power in combat.
9. ‘Alan Wake II’
Continuing on, “Alan Wake II” is an upcoming survival horror game from the development of Remedy Entertainment and publication by Epic Games Publishing. It is the sequel to the 2010 game “Alan Wake” and is expected to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S this year.
10. ‘Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon’
Tenth on the list of the biggest games set to launch in 2023 is “Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.”
The game is set on a distant planet known as Rubicon 3. There, humanity found a new energy source that could dramatically increase its technological prowesses. However, this substance instead caused a cataclysmic event, engulfing the entire star system in flames.
Following its rediscovery a half-century later, humanity once again attempts to gain control over this mysterious resource. Gamers will control an independent mercenary piloting one of the titular Armored Cores, taking on jobs from extra-terrestrial mega-corporations and opposing resistance groups.
11. ‘Spider-Man 2’
Will Marvel fans allow themselves to be left behind? Of course not! The much-anticipated “Spider-Man 2” game is finally launching this year.
Marvel’s “Spider-Man 2” is the next game in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise of PlayStation. The game is developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel Games and PlayStation for the PlayStation 5 console.
12. ‘Judas’
Last but not least is ‘Judas.’ It is an upcoming first-person shooter game developed and published by Ghost Story Games. ‘Judas’ is Ken Levine’s first video game since “Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea” in 2014.
