It’s almost October, which means it is Halloween season again! For those who want to celebrate the occasion by watching horror movies but do not have the budget to go to the cinema or subscribe to Netflix, don’t worry. There are horror films on YouTube that you can watch for free. Here are the best.
1. Top Choice: ‘Train To Busan’
“Train to Busan” is a Korean action horror film directed by Yeon Sang-ho. Most of the scenes in this movie happen inside a high-speed train from Seoul to Busan as a zombie apocalypse suddenly breaks out in Korea, threatening the safety of the passengers and the other people.
The movie features “Coffee Prince” star Gong Yoo, as well as Ma Dong-seok, Jung Yu-mi, Choi Woo-shik, Kim Su-an, Haney Jia, Ahn So-hee, and Kim Eui-sung. “Train to Busan” also premiered during the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. This movie will definitely make you scream.
2. ‘Scream’
Movie buffs from the 1990s are very familiar with “Scream.” It is actually part of a franchise that has five other films, a TV series, merchandise, and games.
“Scream” takes inspiration from the real-life case of Gainesville Ripper – a serial killer – and follows a group of high school pupils stalked by a knife-wielding maniac who uses horror movies as part of a deadly game.
It stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox, among others.
3. ‘Godzilla’
There are several “Godzilla” movies created thus far, but for this list, we will refer to one of those films, “Godzilla” from 1954.
Directed and co-written by Ishirō Honda, “Godzilla” stars Akira Takarada, Akihiko Hirata, Momoko Kōchi, and Takashi Shimura, with Katsumi Tezuka and Haruo Nakajima as Godzilla.
This 1950s film tells the story of Japan’s authorities dealing with the sudden appearance of Godzilla, a giant monster whose attacks trigger fears of a nuclear holocaust in the country shortly after the war.
4. ‘The Girl With All the Gifts’
With that title, this flick may not sound like it is in the horror genre, but it is. “The Girl with All the Gifts” is a British post-apocalyptic sci-fi horror movie from the direction of Colm McCarthy.
Based on the book of the same name written by Carey, this movie depicts a dystopian future following society’s breakdown after a fungal infection wipes out most of humanity.
It stars Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close, Paddy Considine, and Sennia Nanua. Its story may be another of those viral infections in films, but this is still a must-watch.
Other horror movies you can watch for free on YouTube include “The Mimic,” “Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum,” “Triangle,” and “Nosferatu the Vampyre.” And if you can find more, why not?
With the costs of films shown in cinemas or Netflix subscriptions, you will really do your best to find platforms where you can watch movies for free. Thankfully, there’s YouTube. ‘Til next time!
