Strength is a vital attribute that every significant character in anime should have. After all, when anime characters are not endowed with strength or power, things can get really dull. They can’t fight. They can’t accomplish the toughest of challenges. It is this characteristic of the characters that hooks and draws viewers and fans into watching the anime more.

With such a vast and seemingly endless list of anime, have you ever wondered who the strongest and most powerful anime characters are? We’ll discuss this and look at who these anime characters are on this list.

Who Are The Strongest And Most Powerful Anime Characters Of All Time?

Let’s begin the rundown.

1. Saitama From ‘One-Punch Man’

The first on the list is Saitama from “One-Punch Man.” He also happens to be the main man in the series and is the titular one-punch man. He is not just one of the most powerful beings in the world of anime but also the most powerful being in the series.

However, in the show, you will see that he will face a self-imposed existential crisis, as he is now too strong to gain any thrill from battle.

Initially only a hero for the sake of fun, he later registers to be a professional hero from the Hero Association upon realizing that no one recognizes him as a hero and defends his home in Z-City from villains, monsters, and other adversities.

2. Zeno From ‘Dragon Ball Super’

Now this may come as a surprise to you, but Zeno from “Dragon Ball Super” is also part of this list of the strongest anime characters of all time.

Zeno is the co-supreme ruler of the whole multiverse and seemingly the most powerful being in the show. In the story, every divine being, including the Angels, the Gods of Destruction, and the Supreme Kais, venerated and feared Zeno’s power, and thus, they subject themselves to this rule.

3. Rimuru Tempest From ‘That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime’

Next on the list is Rimuru Tempest from “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.” You would agree, right?

Rimuru Tempest, also known as the “Great Demon Lord” and previously known as Satoru Mikami, is the main protagonist in the anime.

A partner and best buddy of the True Dragon Veldora Tempest, he is also the founder and King of the monster country Tempest of the Jura Forest. Additionally, he is likewise regarded as one of the strongest Demon Lords among the mighty Eight Star Demon Lords, as well as the only proper Great Demon Lord currently and the leader of the Twelve Guardian Lords.

4. Tetsuo Shima From ‘Akira’

We’ve listed protagonists so far here, but this time, we are including a villain, Tetsuo Shima. Tetsuo Shima is the main antagonist in the “Akira” franchise. If we look at the show’s theme, he represents the destructive potential power that got into the wrong hands.

In the story, Tetsuo Shima is an emotionally unstable teenager who, following a bicycle accident, is kidnapped by the military. The military then experiments on him, a typical plot in stories, providing him with psychic powers. But he is an antagonist, so we are pretty sure he will use it for evil. And he does.

5. Kaguya Otsutsuki From ‘Naruto’

“Naruto” is such a phenomenal anime series (Who knows? It might also be adapted into a live-action like “One Piece.), that you can mention several powerful anime characters from this show alone. One of these is Kaguya Otsutsuki. Do you all agree?

She has quite a backstory. Kaguya Otsutsuki was a princess from the era long before the ninja clans and villages were founded. She was the daughter of a deceased king long ago, King Otsutsukitarine no Miko, and is the mother of Hagoromo Otsutsuki and Hamura Otsutsuki.

She was also the being who consumed Shinju’s forbidden fruit and, thus, has been said to become the progenitor of all chakra. She is also the embodiment of the beast that would later be known as the infamous and powerful Ten-Tails.

6. Korosensei From ‘Assassination Classroom’

Now he looks like some of those YouTube sensations with hidden faces, but of course, he is not a YouTuber. Korosensei is one of the strongest anime characters from “Assassination Classroom.”

Korosensei is the homeroom teacher of Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School in the anime. He is also the anime’s anti-heroic supporting protagonist. Prior to being a teacher, he was regarded as the assassin known as “The Reaper.”

Why is he powerful? Well, besides Korosensei having dozens of powerful tentacles that make up the bulk of his physicality, he is also unbelievably fast. He can dodge streams of bullets from machine guns without breaking a sweat. How you wish you have those superpowers, right?

7. Broly From ‘Dragon Ball Super’

Broly is the second character we are including on this list from “Dragon Ball Super.” There seem to be so many powerful characters from that show, right?

But much to your disappointment, Broly is actually an antagonist. He is the latest of the Legendary Super Saiyans, appearing every one thousand years.

8. Giorno Giovanna From ‘JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’

Giorno Giovanna is the protagonist of the anime’s fifth part, “Golden Wind,” and the fifth JoJo in the series.

Why is he powerful, you ask? Well, he wields a Golden Wind Stand capability which allows him to invigorate both living things and inanimate objects with life energy, causing them to come to life or immensely increase their power temporarily. Now how many of the anime characters you know of have that superpower? He is powerful, indeed.

9. Monkey D. Luffy From ‘One Piece’

Of course, we know you have been waiting for this. Luffy from “One Piece” is also one of the most powerful anime characters ever.

Monkey D. Luffy, also known as Straw Hat Luffy, is the founder and captain of the infamous and influential Straw Hat Pirates. He is also the most powerful of its top fighters. His goals are to find the legendary treasure that the late Gol D. Roger left behind and become the Pirate King.

By becoming a Pirate King, he would help facilitate a dream of his that he has only spoken about to the pirate chief, his brothers, and his crew. He believes that when he becomes the Pirate King, he will have the most freedom in the world.

10. Simon From ‘Gurren Lagann’

Also known as Simon the Digger, Simon is “Gurren Lagann’s” main protagonist. He begins in the story as a short, unassuming, and lonely young boy but develops into a commanding and well-loved man.

He also became known as a legendary hero who hast beaten impossible personal and universal odds, and thus now stands eternally as a beacon for the good of all man and Spiral kind. Spirals are entities that hold the energy of evolution.

The rest of the most powerful characters in anime are:

  • All for One from ‘My Hero Academia’
  • Jotaro Kujo from ‘JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’
  • Mob from ‘Mob Psycho 100’
  • Eren Yeager from ‘Attack on Titan’
  • Isaac Netero from ‘Hunter x Hunter’
  • Lucy from ‘Elfen Lied’
  • Muzan Kibutsuji from ‘Demon Slayer’
  • Alucard from ‘Hellsing Ultimate’
  • Ichigo Kurosaki from ‘Bleach’
  • Ken Kaneki from ‘Tokyo Ghoul’

Did Your Favorites Make The Cut?

Anime has no shortage of strong and powerful characters. But remember, strength and raw power alone should not define your love for these shows or should not define how interesting the characters are. After all, in the wrong hands, such power can invalidate challenges and make battles fall flat. But nonetheless, the strongest anime characters prove there are many opportunities for the creators of these stories to make things even more appealing. Did your favorites make the cut?
