It’s official: the Nintendo Direct, which broadcast at E3 2021, verified much of what had already been speculated: Shin Megami Tensei V will be released later this year, on November 12. The leaks in question surfaced earlier this month, revealing the debut date and facts about Shin Megami Tensei V’s plot. (It’s worth mentioning, though, that the leaks pointed to a now-proven-to-be-false November 11 deadline.)
According to Persona Central, the information regarding the next Shin Megami Tensei game was accidentally revealed due to an update on the game’s official Japanese site. The story-related information that were revealed weren’t insignificant either.

Players will take on the role of a high school student who wanders into the strange post-apocalyptic dimension of Da’ath in this Nintendo Switch-exclusive adventure. While out roaming, the adolescent encounters a mysterious entity with whom he merges to become “Naobino,” a prohibited entity. As a result, a regular student’s life becomes entwined with a full-fledged Angels vs. Demons war.
Shin Megami Tensei V received some attention at Nintendo’s E3 2021 presentation, as predicted. The next Shin Megami Tensei game will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch on November 12, with preorders for the physical version opening on June 21.
A few minutes of gameplay were showed off during the digital event, enabling fans to try their hand at the command-based combat system, which will certainly prove to be a useful tool while battling aggressive demon opponents.
Thankfully, it looks like Atlus will stick to its earlier intention of releasing the game simultaneously all across the world. Fans won’t have to wait long to try their hand at the next installment of the long-running franchise. While a few specifics are still being kept under wraps for the time being, Nintendo and Atlus should be able to provide additional information in the following months.
The Megami Tensei series began in the late 1980s by publishing a role-playing game for PC and consoles. Shin Megami Tensei as we know it now, on the other hand, did not debut until 1992. Persona spinoffs definitely pushed the brand into the stratosphere, a region from which the Atlus-created adventures are unlikely to fall anytime soon.
