Now that February has officially begun, there are a bunch of gaming events that you can look forward to this month. For one thing, a couple of highly anticipated video games will be released, including Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury for the Nintendo Switch, Little Nightmares 2 for multiple platforms, as well as Control: Ultimate Edition and Destruction AllStars for PlayStation Plus.
That being said, this may not be what you’re most excited about this February. A new month means new or returning creatures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and now you’ll be glad to know that a host of bugs, fish, and other sea creatures have returned to the game.
The month of February will have one returning face if you live in the Northern Hemisphere, and will bring back seven creatures if you live in the Southern Hemisphere. Fortunately, there’s no need to rush in catching the creatures you haven’t yet, as you will be able to donate them at any time during the month.
That said, there are a couple of critters and crawlies available now. For instance, the tiger beetle will have returned to the Northern Hemisphere, and players in the area will be able to find them on the ground at any time. Definitely keep a lookout for this creature, as it can be sold for a whopping 1,500 bells at Tom Nook’s store.
On the other hand, players from the Southern Hemisphere can expect numerous creepy crawlies and sea creatures. First there’s the Soft-shelled Turtle, which can be found in the river. Not only that, fishing in the sea gives you a chance to catch the Moray Eel and the Ray.
As for the bugs, Walker Cicada can be found on trees, while the Migratory Locust and Rice Grasshopper bugs can simply be found on the ground. When in search for Flatworms, these can be found in the ocean—so simply dive into the water and look for them there.
Since the seasons are once again changing in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can look forward to even more new and returning bugs and sea creatures to appear within the next few months.
Asides from critters, though, there’s a lot more to be excited about this year. For one thing, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be celebrating the Festivale event on February 15. In preparation of this event, fans received maracas for free in the mail when the January update dropped.
Before Festivale, though, you should definitely check out the Valentine’s Day-themed items in-game, which included chocolates and flower bouquets.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been around for nearly a year, yet it’s still as popular as the first time it was launched last March. As a matter of fact, it was able to top UK’s physical release sales charts once again recently. It’s undoubtedly one of Nintendo’s biggest and most popular games out there, so much so that it was Twitter’s most talked-about game last year.
We’re definitely excited and curious to see what Nintendo has planned for the game’s future, and how it plans to celebrate its first-year anniversary.
