“Halo Infinite” is back on track with a vengeance. Following the news in the middle of this year that almost nobody was playing the game anymore on Steam, it has recently been getting “mostly positive reviews on the platform. Here’s the story.
‘Mostly positive’ reviews
Thanks to the latest patch of “Halo Infinite,” Steam players have more reasons to return to the game. The latest update added more Forge options, as well as a new multiplayer gameplay mode.
Recent reviews on Steam for “Halo Infinite” have swung the first-person shooter game with a “Mostly Positive” rating after the new patch, which added a “Firefight: King of the Hill” gameplay mode.
The game’s developer, 343 Industries, released the new patch during the online fifth season as a mid-season update to address issues with online stability, add new content for multiplayer gamers, and more.
Compared to before, the first-person shooter game is now much fuller, providing more things a player can do with others. Plus, the brand-new Season 5 update has paved the way for players to give the game some positive reviews.
Some of those reviews stated, “With the release of Season 5, [Halo Infinite] finally feels like a full game and is worth checking out,” while others said that “a lot of the changes show 343 is listening to the players… Good campaign and so many modes in multiplayer to choose from.”
Almost nobody playing ‘Halo Infinite’
However, in July this year, it could be remembered that “Halo Infinite” lost almost all its players on Steam. This, fueled by concerns about the immediate future of the game’s multiplayer experience. The concerns have only intensified since its first season ended in May 2022. Some gamers felt their criticisms must be adequately addressed via new updates, which they got just recently.
For context, charts from SteamDB previously showed a significant decline in the playerbase of “Halo Infinite” on Steam. The all-time high of 272,586 players has decreased to just 6,131 active players. It meant that only around two percent of the game’s original playerbase had remained.
But things are better now more than ever. Just like the positive reception it has been receiving, “Halo Infinite” is back on track with more and more players coming in over the recent months. The number peaked from 6,725 players in September – fresh from the drought – to approximately 18,000 in October.
