In a recent Twitter poll, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky asked the platform’s 300 thousand followers if they would like the company to create a rental-focused global interface for 2022. Looking at all the data present, it appears that Chesky plans to expand Airbnb’s platform during the first half of this new year.

A couple of hours before starting last Wednesday, the CEO revealed that more than four thousand people answered the poll he published. He also noted that the respondents were encouraged to use Bitcoin or cryptocurrency, in general, to pay for bookings, which he has been personally considering.

What Twitter Thinks

Being the CEO of such a massive and renowned company like Airbnb, the users’ experience while using the platform matters a lot to Chesky, so it makes sense for him to do a bit of research on Twitter. Chesky wants to expand a global platform for renting homes and apartments in demanded areas this time around.

The survey also helped him understand the growing needs and wants of Airbnb users, such as introducing new payment options like Bitcoin. Aside from that, users also want a couple of other things, including specified prices, renewed cleaning costs, and a reward system for those users who use the platform often.

Currently, Airbnb only allows traditional payment options, including credit cards like Visa and MasterCard, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and electronic wallets like PayPal.

It appears, though, that Chesky is considering partnering with a leading crypto company to help him and his team adopt crypto payments like Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum, and many others.

Airbnb’s Platform Has Grown in the US

Chesky also announced that Airbnb earned approximately $336,000 million since its operations started in 2013. He also noted that his recent survey isn’t the first time respondents recommended adding crypto as a payment method. However, the requests have significantly increased ever since Bitcoin reached its all-time high in October.

During an interview with The Verge, Chesky revealed that he was, in fact, doing more research on the crypto market for upcoming adoption. He agreed that Airbnb needed to renew its operation and keep up with the times.
