It was previously revealed that Ubisoft would be introducing a River Raids update to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and now, fans don’t have to wait any longer because the update is slated to go live tomorrow. Asides from this, fans can also expect the update to have a new replayable mode, among other things.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the most recent iteration in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise, and as its name suggests, the title takes players to the interesting yet violent world of the Vikings. For this game, fans play as Eivor—who is considered to be one of the best assassins—as they traverse and explore the beautiful English countryside and Nordic seas.
The action RPG was first launched in November of last year, and since then, Ubisoft has been regularly releasing post-launch content and updates for fans to enjoy. For instance, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players participated in the in-game Yule Festival last December. Now, Ubisoft will be introducing River Raids to the game, along with other tweaks and changes, keeping the players’ experience with the game fresh and interesting.
According to Ubisoft’s official website, players can expect the update to launch on February 16, 2021 for PC and consoles. The update will go live at the same time for the different platforms—specifically, the time zones are as follows: 1 PM CET, 7 AM EST, 4 AM PST, and 11 PM AEDT.
After successfully installing the update, fans can expect a variety of new features to be available in their game. What makes this River Raid update interesting is the fact that Ubisoft stated that it’s a highly replayable mode. Eivor and their crew will be taken to “unexplored regions of England, which is full of raiding opportunities.” There will also be new challenges, loot, and rewards awaiting the players who take part in this fun mode.
There’s more good news: every Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be able to download and experience the River Raid mode because it will be available for free. Given how the title is known to have a lot of microtransactions, it’s great that Ubisoft made this new content easily accessible to its fans.
Something is coming from down the river, a new ally, a new friend, a new opportunity.
Best start preparing now, it won’t be long until you’re back on the water yourself…

Among other exciting additions, players can also look forward to new abilities and skills for Eivor. For example, this update will give Eivor the ability to unload a Berserker Trap from their bow. Doing so will confuse enemies, as it leaves behind some kind of hallucinatory powder.
There will also be other additional skills, such as ones that will buff the players’ passive abilities. Examples of this include potentially receiving an increased chance of looting arrows, or perhaps receiving a boost in speed.
As expected of any update, fans may notice that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be more improved and that some bugs will receive a fix. It’s clear to see that Ubisoft has long-term plans for this game. Even though it launched last year, it’s still receiving regular support from the developer months after.
Although Ubisoft didn’t seem to list down the complete details of the upcoming River Raid mode, we expect that this will introduce more to the game after players complete it successfully.
