Binance, one of the most popular cryptocurrencies and blockchains, has announced a partnership with the African Football Confederation (CAF).

While bitcoin usage is increasing around the world, Africa appears to be a modest player in digital assets.

Several sports, like football and basketball, are gaining cryptocurrency sponsorships and backing to raise the profile of digital assets worldwide. Binance, on the other hand, is one of the crypto blockchains that has been involved in such sponsorships.

This announcement came just as the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, Africa’s most prestigious men’s football championship, got underway on Monday.

Furthermore, Binance has announced its formal sponsorship of the 2018 AFCON event. Binance is the first crypto blockchain to sponsor the AFCON tournament as a result of this decision.

Furthermore, the sponsorship agreement permits Binance to promote CAF’s social media material. The content includes the tournament’s assist, the week’s assist, and the day’s assist. In addition, games from Cameroon’s five cities will be included in the material, which will be spread across all six venues for the event.

The African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament is the first event on the African athletic calendar. This year’s event is scheduled to last until February 6.

Veron Mosengo-Omba, the CAF general secretary, expressed his excitement in welcoming Binance as the official sponsor of this year’s AFCON competition in an acknowledgment speech. He went on to express his excitement about the Binance partnership. He stated that it would be a means of bringing African football to a new and higher level.

Binance’s director for Africa, Emmanuel Babalola, spoke on the company’s behalf. According to him, football is the most popular sport in Africa. As a result, the crypto-exchange is leveraging the sponsorship to support the company’s objective of pushing crypto mainstream across the African continent.

The cryptocurrency exchange and CAF collaboration is part of the continuous marketing plan to deliver financial services to Africans. According to their approach, the alliance will benefit Africans who previously had limited access to banks and other financial institutions.

Binance estimates that its support has enabled more than 541,000 Africans to access bitcoin classes freely.
