BitPay, a cryptocurrency payment service provider, has added Shiba Inu to its list of supported cryptocurrencies. The news comes after Newegg and AMC announced a collaboration with the company to bring SHIB payments to their respective platforms.
BitPay now accepts Shiba Inu payments
The crypto payment company announced on their website via a blog post that the platform now supports SHIB payments.
BitPay is a platform that allows users to store and pay with their preferred cryptocurrency. It is one of the most popular crypto payment service providers globally, and a wide range of merchants currently uses it to accept digital currency payments.
AMC theatres announced earlier this year that, in collaboration with the payments provider, the cinema chain would soon begin accepting Shiba Inu. The AMC CEO revealed that he personally requested that the coin be added to BitPay. As a result, BitPay accepting SHIB became a foregone conclusion.

“SHIBArmy, pay attention! According to the company’s announcement, Shiba Inu (SHIB) has been added to the list of coins now available at BitPay. “With the BitPay app, you can now buy, store, swap, and spend this Ethereum ERC-20 token.”
Late last month, Newegg, a tech-focused retailer, announced that it will begin accepting SHIB in “early December.” Naturally, the eCommerce company is also leveraging the platform to offer its customers cryptocurrency as a payment option.
Following BitPay’s official announcement, Newegg quickly confirmed on Twitter that users could immediately begin using Shiba Inu to pay on the platform.

In recent months, Shiba Inu has begun to gain ground in terms of mainstream adoption, as evidenced by the AMC and Newegg news mentioned above.
Popular cryptocurrency exchanges such as Gemini and BitStamp have also recently begun to list memecoin on their platforms.
However, the community has yet to persuade Robinhood to include Shiba Inu in its service. A petition on the subject has been circulated for some time and has received the signatures of approximately 546k SHIB supporters.
At the time of writing, the price of SHIB is hovering around $0.00003537, down 18% in the last seven days. Over the last month, the memecoin has lost 35% of its value.
Previously, the coin made it into the top ten cryptocurrency list, but it has since dropped out. The cryptocurrency is now ranked 13th in terms of market capitalization.
