They say, “the best things in life are free,” and in “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” game, you will be treated with some free stuff. You read that right.

Players of “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” are now eligible to receive a free Golden Apple they can add to their inventory. However, remember that to unlock this, it requires a feature added in the game’s Version 1.2.0 update.

Previously, this same update also provided some goodies for the game’s players, such as the Hylian Shroom and the Soldier’s Broadsword. Now, it has been announced recently that more free items are coming your way.

Another feature present with this update is letting players unlock free inventory items by simply clicking on game-related stories in the Nintendo Switch News section, which is constantly updated.

All you have to do is click on the article, then scroll to the bottom to find a “Play Now” link. As you select this, you can boot up “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” from there to receive a free item in your inventory.

The article is titled “Smile for the Camera!” and the free item or reward is a Golden Apple, which may be minor, but still is rare and one of the most valuable food items in the game.

Golden Apples are some of the many new collectible items added to the game that players can find in its vast three-layered overworld. Usually, these Golden Apples are spotted in the exact locations where the regular Apples are, but much rare and often randomly appear in the said trees (though Golden Apples are slightly more abundant on the Sky Islands).

The ideal place to find them is probably in a small grove in the Lost Woods, easily accessible through one of the Shrine Quests in “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.”

This effort will be all worth it since a Golden Apple can restore an extra half heart when eaten raw and boost the healing power of any dish it is cooked in.

That’s a bit of good news for you, right? Launched in May 2023, “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” is the sequel to “Breath of the Wild,” wherein players control Link as he searches for Princess Zelda and battles it out to stop the Demon King from disrupting the world.

Naturally, popular games like this receive various patches upon release, regardless of how perfect they are upon launch day. As of early July, “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” sits at Version 1.2.0, which patched out several bugs that obstruct its story, as well as other glitches that hindered particular creatures from showing up or certain random entities from being randomized.
