This month, from February 1st to March 1st, the United States and Canada (the world, actually) are celebrating Black History Month. In the arena of eCommerce, Amazon is also commemorating the 2023 Black History Month, celebrating the influence of the Black community on culture through the platform’s products, services, and programs.

February is Black History Month in the United States and Canada, as well as in other parts of the globe. It is an annual observance originating in the United States, where it is also referred to as African-American History Month. The celebration has received official recognition from the governments of the United States and Canada, and more recently, it has also been observed in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

To honor the Black community’s longstanding contributions, and to promote their creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, Amazon is embracing the theme “Black is Remarkable” for this year’s Black History Month.

Here are the ways you can celebrate Black History Month with Amazon.

Support remarkable Black-owned small businesses

Amazon is celebrating Black-owned businesses in its Buy Black store. Here, customers can purchase products and discover the stories behind their success. The wife of NBA superstar Stephen Curry, Ayesha Curry, is highlighting eight of her favorite Black-owned businesses that will be featured in the story throughout this month.

Read books written by the Black community

Readers can discover authors from the Black community and their notable stories with Amazon Books all year.

Play games developed by the Black community on Prime Gaming

Each month, Prime Gaming offers free games and in-game content to its members worldwide. This month, the eCommerce platform includes four fantastic games developed by the Black community. These include “Onsen Master,” “BATS: Bloodsucker Anti-Terror Squad,” “Aerial Knight’s Never Yield,” and “Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator.”

Celebrate the 2023 Black History Month in style

Amazon Fashion is spotlighting Black creators as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to uplift this community. An Amazon Fashion storefront will highlight Black designers, entrepreneurs, and artists, as well as Black-run brands and Black creators from The Drop, which is Amazon’s destination for trendy and exclusive fashion styled, designed, and curated by celebrities and influencers.

Highlighting Black artistry with Amazon Music

This month, the Amazon Music collection is celebrating Black artists and creators, and gives credit to their contributions to the music industry across genres and decades.

Throughout February, the Amazon Music channel on Twitch is hosting the Group Thread discussion series, which features interviews with the artists and creators defining Black culture. The channel is also featuring a City Sessions livestream performance. Simply ask Alexa to play music for Black History Month, and you can start listening. You may also check out Black Culture Radio, a multi-genre listening experience that features music from Black artists whose influences have spanned eras, regions, and generations.
