Japanese multinational video gaming company Nintendo just announced on Wednesday, as part of its latest Direct, that a range of Game Boy games will be coming to Nintendo Switch’s online service, from “Tetris” to “Kirby’s Dream Land.”
Furthermore, these will include Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games, with a catch for the latter.
New announcement from Nintendo
Nintendo spent most of its announcement covering original Game Boy games before it announced that some Game Boy Color games would also be playable. Then, the company announced that Game Boy Advance games would also be available to play. However, take note that only these ones will only be available on the more pricey Expansion Pack subscriber tier.
Nintendo said on its official news page, “Select Game Boy games are being added to Nintendo Switch Online! On Nintendo Switch, you can play these games anytime, anywhere – just like you could back in the day. You can use Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket or Game Boy Color screen filters to help customize your play style. And, up to two players can play compatible games together locally or online for the first time.”
It added, “Plus, Game Boy Advance games are being added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack! Local and online play is supported for compatible games, and up to four players can play together online for the first time.”
Many of the games are available for playing right now. If you are wondering about multiplayer, don’t fret. You can sit two Switches down and play together as you would do with a link cable.
