In a blog posted yesterday, Activision revealed that the Call of Duty Warzone and Black Ops Cold War first season update will be pushed back by a week, moving the release from December 10th to December 16th, and will now be two separate update downloads. Call of Duty Warzone and Black Ops Cold War Season One will be one of the largest in series history, and the developers have confirmed it to be the biggest free content drop in Black Ops history as well.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War was originally fairly-received by fans, failing to make a significant impact but maintaining the overall quality players have expected from titles in the Call of Duty franchise.
However, once critics started reviewing the game, things instantly began going south – Black Ops Cold War remains stuck with an abysmal user score. And the first season update is anticipated to prove essential in whether or not the game can improve its reputation with fans. On the other hand, Call of Duty Warzone continues to harvest success, though committed players remain vigilant in their requests for additional content.
Season One is coming.

While the Call of Duty Warzone and Black Ops Cold War first season update is anticipated to help ease some of the problems both games are facing, it is now coming at a later date. Activision revealed in a blog post on the Call of Duty website that the first season is getting delayed by just a few days, pushing its launch back from December 10th to December 16th.
The postponement was also followed by statements from the development team that reminded players that they will be receiving “an undeniable offering” Black Ops Cold War additions and “an unprecedented amount of free Warzone content”.
Activision revealed that they just needed a “few more days” to get everything finalized for the “biggest Season One launch week ever seen,” once again highlighting that the upcoming season will be big for fans.
While this remains to be seen, there is no denying that there is the potential for that type of dramatic change thanks to what’s coming to the Warzone Season One update. A myriad of Black Ops Cold War blueprints and weapons are arriving in Warzone to shake up how the multiplayer battle royale turns out, while Black Ops Cold War itself will be receiving new modes, maps, and the return of 2v2 gunfight. There’s also the instance of a new map coming to Warzone, which is almost without a doubt called Rebirth Island, which was recently discovered by dataminers.
