“Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion” is a very popular anime among fans. This time, you will love it even more as the anime is bound to be adapted into a musical play.
During the AnimeJapan 2023 event held on Saturday, it was announced that “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion” will be turned into a new musical stage play and will be titled “Musical Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.”
It will be shown this September. Get ready.
Cast members
The main cast members include Kōji Kominami portraying Lelouch Lamperouge, and Ryōtarō Akazawa, who will portray Suzaku Kururugi.
“Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion” is a TV series Sunrise created. It is from the direction of Gorō Taniguchi and writing by Ichirō Ōkouchi. The original character designs are by Clamp, and the mechanical designs are by Akira Yasuda, Kenji Teraoka, Junichi Akutsu and Eiji Nakat.
Set in the year 2010, the story follows the Holy Empire of Britannia, establishing itself as a dominant military nation bound to conquer Japan. Renamed to Area 11 after its swift defeat, Japan has seen major resistance against these tyrants in an attempt to regain independence.
The story also tells about Lelouch Lamperouge, a Britannian student who, unfortunately, finds himself amidst a crossfire between the Britannian and the Area 11 rebel armed forces. He is able to escape, though, thanks to the timely appearance of the mysterious woman named C.C., who bestows upon him Geass, the “Power of Kings.”
Realizing the huge potential of his newfound “power of absolute obedience, this hero embarks upon a perilous journey as the masked vigilante Zero, leading a merciless onslaught against Britannia aimed at taking revenge.

It was in 2006 when the original “Code Geass” TV series premiered, followed by a sequel series in 2008. This series has inspired different manga and original video anime, including the “Code Geass: Akito the Exiled” spinoff, launched in 2012.
The first film in the series’ compilation recap trilogy, “Code Geass – Hangyaku no Lelouch – Kōdō,” opened in Japan last October 2017. Meanwhile, the second movie, “Code Geass – Hangyaku no Lelouch – Handō,” opened in Japan in February 2018. A third film, titled “Code Geass – Hangyaku no Lelouch – Ōdō,” opened in May 2018. Funimation then released the trilogy on Blu-ray Disc.
The most recent anime in the franchise, “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection,” premiered in February 2019 across 120 cinemas in Japan. Funimation took charge of screening this film in North America beginning in May 2019.
Producer Kōjirō Taniguchi said in April 2019 that the movie is “phase 1” of a 10-year plan for new content in the “Code Geass” franchise.
